:iamwithstupid:

alright, I'm gonna try a new plan...:driving:

1. I want to keep my processed sugar and flour to a minimum.

2. I want to keep my calories under 2,000 (1300 to 1700 is the goal)

3. I want to get my nutrients in.

4. I want to exercise 90 minutes per week.

5. I want to be hydrated.

6. I dont want to lose my support here at the weight loss forum...

I have no idea how to keep track of my calories all day.... without being glued to fitday. Dont they have some kind of pocket fitday?

advice anyone?

ps. it would be very cool to prove my therapist wrong...

I know you've said you don't want advice unless it's asked for -but clearly you don't know me... :) I can't help myself sometimes...

You've got an awful lot of changes that you're trying to make at once -and that can be overwhelming and frustrating at times and often lead to just throwing yourhands up and giving up...

why not work in more managable increments... there's no race to the finish line.. you'll get ther when you get there - as long as you keep moving forward.. .(remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? :D

Pick one change and focus on it for 21 days - I've read that it takes 21 (or 28 depending on what i"m reading) to build a habit - once you've got that habit built then move on to the next one... and maintain the old one... that way you're buildig your lifestyle changes slowly that you don't notice them - andina few months, you'll be pounds thinnner and way healthier...

Again - unsolicited advice... not gonna stop me from trying.. :D

As fore the advice you're asking for... keep a notebook with you and record everything you eat during the day and dump it into fit day at night.. and just plan your day ahead of time so there are no surprise calories in there...

ok, so which one to start with....

I guess logging my foods (which im doing already) can stay

planning meals in advance will be goal #1

Thanks Mal... and Kimberly and anyone who trying to help me....and HUGO!! who knew HUGO would come and help!!??

Im going to look for a diary today...

Kim and Mal are giving you great advice. I need to take some of it too! Concentrating on one thing at a time will keep your mind from being scrambled, and then giving up.

I guess I'm kinda like mal, I can't help myself sometimes. I just wonder what you feel you have to prove to this therapist. He sounds really dogmatic and pushy. They're supposed to let you make up your own mind and not force you into seeing things their way. Most of us on here got our chub because we love food and we've used it somewhat addictively, meaning we eat when we're bored, full, angry, hurt. I dont think its just the ingredients causing these cravings, its just that some food tastes so damn good and it hits the spot when we are bored or not feeling so sharp. Eating low carb is definitely known to cut your appetite however, so there is something to it. But its not all that's to it and you shouldn't have to defend your actions to your therapist. Remember, he works for you not the other way around.

awwwwwwwwww......... Im liking this fresh new start already!

ok, went to Barnes and Noble, got myself a journal and a calorie counter (Calorie King has a colorful one!!) He also has calorie updates on his website:

also, as an impulse purchase, I grabbed Mens Health: Eat this, not that! Its so cool, it helps you make better choices when you are out and about, sitting down to a holiday meal, when your grocery shopping, etc.... very cool!!

but, its 11:30 and I haven't had breakfast yet! Ill be back!

Jilly--I'm thrilled at your fresh start!

Seriously, there is a big rush for doctors/therapists these days to smack a label on their patients--and sugar/carb addiction is one of their favorites. Who doesn't love their carbs? I sure do, and I cannot live forever on a low carb diet. There's no reason you should have to either. Certainly limiting processed/refined carbs is something you want to do--but that doesn't mean you can't have a piece of chocolate once in awhile to keep you sane. ;)

I think the reason you feel so good when you're on that plan is b/c you feel like you're accomplishing something. The problem is that plan is not feasable for long term--and when you go off it, you feel bad not b/c of the food affecting your body so much as mentally you know you "failed." So this new plan should work well. Mal gave you some more great advice--and heaven knows she has a bit of experience in losing weight and keeping it off.

Just remember--that a day of bad eating is not a failure, it's just a slight error that can be corrected. The main thing is to eat well 80-95% of the time. I ate fried fish, chicken and fries for dinner last night, and had some low-sodium bacon today for breakfast. I don't feel guilty about it, and I don't beat myself up over it--my calories yesterday were under 1900. I tend to be a bit naughty on the weekends, but keep my act together during the week--and I still lose weight.

You can do it!!!
