Well this is the first entry in my new (wonderfully motivating) diary. Today was a good day. Mother's day! I woke up really early- made a nice healthy breakfast - then went to the YMCA (after going out with my mom of course) and busted my butt! more than I ever have...Talk about sore! The Y offers workout logs- so i started filling mine out yesterday and am already seeing improvements. Yesterday I walked for 30 minutes and burned 450 calories on the treadmill- today I did 65 minutes and burned 900! It was great! I was a little sore afterward- but it felt so good to FINALLY make it a full hour. It went by so fast. Partially because of a (luckily) well put together playlist and lots of people to watch to preoccupy myself. I make little deals with myself. For instance, when I started on the treadmill I told myself: I'm only doing 15 minutes then switching so I don't get bored" but then when 15 minutes came around there was a good song playing so I told myself to just go until that song ended. Then a slow song came up but it was at 18:56 seconds and I said -hey just go to 20! then 25...then might as well do 30...then Metallica and Dream Theatre came on---long songs + not looking at the treadmill until they're done = 900 calories and 65 mintues! It felt great. I also did the bicycle for 20 minutes and got 100 calories. I tried to really push myself- going as fast as I could possibly cycle. (I have really sensitive thighs- not in good shape at all so bicycles hurrrrrt!) I actually got the courage to weigh myself naked in the locker room after my workout/shower etc. I felt empowered- and surprisingly not as self conscious as I thought I'd feel. i always get post-gym munchies so I opted for a granny smith on the ride home (25 minute ride home seems like an eternity when you're hungry- and if I don't eat something during the commute then i will pay for it later when I'm bingeing!) For dinner I had a bowl of Fiber one cereal with soy milk and black/blueberries. yum! was still hungry though- so I ate a string cheese and 1/3 cup yogurt. All in all I'd say it was a successful day. I can't wait to do it all over tomorrow! With a few extra walks with my sweetheart added in- I should be feeling better all around in no time!
