I've been around for a long time, and in 2009 I said that I was through losing weight, and that 140 pounds was good for me.

Well, it was... until it was time to go bikini shopping.

I'm in pretty good shape, but my body is far from toned, and I want to be able to look good in a bikini by the end of this year.

I currently weigh 140 pounds, and have a bmi of 22.6.

Here are my befores:

Honestly, do you guys think it's realistic for me to think I can have a tight, and lean body?

I ask this, only because I've lost so much weight so far, and I'm still super flabby.

I mean, if I lose another 10-20 pounds, how much of a difference is it really going to make?

Does anyone have any advice for certain exercises I can do to tone up.

I just don't want to lose another 20-25 pounds, and still hav a huge belly, and a wide butt. Ha ha.

Thanks, guys.

Looks like you've made outstanding progress and have lost a bunch! I'm no expert by any means, but I'm think that the "toning and tightening" exercises would start coming into play now. Good luck!

Thanks! :)

That's kind of what I figured. I'm thinking of buying turbo jam, just because I've seen the kind of results you get from that program.

Until then, I've got some weights, and don't mind crunches. We'll see. I'm new to this whole toning thing. :)

Thanks, again!

I'll be happy when I get to the toning stage...I'm still at the "there's so much of me that all the toning in the world wouldn't help" state :smilielol5:

Once you get there it's so worth it, though.

Good luck on your journey! :)

Thanks for the responses.

I think between cardio and ab excercises it will tighten up, i'm at the same point except i'm a guy.

Yeah, I'm really hoping so. I also bought some power bars today, so maybe those will help me build some muscle. He he.

Good luck, and thanks fr the response! :)

Your skin color is sooooo pretty, and soooo smooth! *ogles*

I would say getting your BMI to 20 as well as building up muscle would help. Mind you, once you start building muscle, your weight is going to go up, so maybe a BMI of 20 is too small. I'm not sure... But I agree with everyone else that you should focus more on ironing out what you've got, and then if fat is covering your new, shiny muscles, lose a few more pounds.

Awe, thank you. :)

I'm not exactly sure how I should build muscle. I've never really focused on it. I've just done a lot of cardio.

Hopefully I can figure it out. :)

You look fantastic! Doesn't look like you need to lose anymore weight! Maybe a little toning. I sadly don't know exercises for that. Sorry!
I wish I had your body though! =)

First off you are looking great and have done an outstanding job! :patriot:. You are at about the same position I am in at this point (not the bikini part that would look scary on me!). You've lost the weight you were looking to lose but now you are trying to build muscle tone. I truly do believe that it is indeed possible you just need to focus. You still need cardio but you need to probably give more attention to weight training now. That will help you I am sure. Best of luck to you...you will get there!:auto:

Thanks! :) I feel pretty confident in clothes, but when they come off and it's time to wear that swimsuit, I'm horrified. He he. Thanks, again.

@ slickg: Yes, I'm not so sure you should wear a bikini. lmao. Thanks for the advice, though. :) I still want to keep a lot of cardio in my routine, but I'm definitely going to add a lot of muscle training.

You and me both! Not the bikini part, just a toned and tight body. :D I have lost 57 lbs and I'm down to around 13 or 14% body fat but I am still not happy with the way I look. I am even lowering my goal weight from 189 to 181. I hope to settle in around 185 and 10% body fat or less.

Jean, you can so totally do it. Yes it is possible. You have done outstanding so far and you look really good so don't ever stop being proud of that. I think getting a toned and tight body is a challenge for anyone but you can do it if you really want it. Perhaps now would be a good time to invest in a personal trainer for 12 or 24 sessions. Also, your eating will have to be A- or better. No problem, right? ;)

you look so good i just wanted to say and if u wanna tone up i am confident that you will be successful at doing so theres alot of options out there but be proud of that body of yours because it looks great

Thank you so much for all that you've said. :)

Someone telling me that I've done a good job never gets old. In the real world, I never hear it actually. That's life, though. It's always nice to have a group of people who are proud of you. :)

He he, anyway.

It almost seems like the weight loss was the easy part. I'd like to get down to maybe 120-130, but I guess all of that depends on how this whole "toning" thing goes.

I don't want to be too thin, but I want to be able to wear low cut bikini bottoms rather than some high-waisted skirt thing.

I'd like to think I have pretty good eating habits. :)

I eat a ton of fruit and cereal. Lot's and lot's of protein too. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks, again, and good luck! :D

Thanks, a bunch! :)

Sometimes I'm confident with my body, and sometimes I'm not. I want to get to that point where I know I look good all the time, rather than just half of the time.

Thanks, again. :)
