Hi,

I've recently turned 30 and currently weigh 15stone (210lb). My ideal ideal weight would be 120lb. So far i have already lost 42lb but this has been over the course of 4yrs and I have this same 14lb that comes off and goes back on and comes off and goes back on. I lost the 1st 2stone (28lb) in like 4months and I did this with loads of encouragement, help and support but I don't have that so much now and find it hard to get motivated.

Now i'm 30 i feel it's time to sort this once and for all. I've read that your body's natrual metabolism slows after the age of 30 so i really need to get my ass in gear lol!

I decided to join this site to meet with others who share the same goals, a place to come and be motivated and share encouragement, share tips and best practices. I joined another site last week in the hope of finding people to share goals and challenges with but it wasn't very welcoming. Now i've found this I feel FAR more excitied and ready to do this.

So far everyone has suggested keeping a diary and that's exactly what i'm doing :0) Watch this space!!!!

Welcome to the forum :)

well done with your loss so far, if you can post what you have been doing (food ?, exercise ?) other members can take a look and be able to give better sugestions and support :)

My first 28lbs came from just through healthy eating at weight watchers which I found really easy to do. I then moved and there was no meetings in my area so the rest of the weight was just trying to eat healthily and excercise but it's very very slow since have this 10lb that comes off and then goes back on it's a never ending cycle but I can't go on like this. I've read that after the age of 30 your metabolism starts to natrurally slow down so i need to nip this in the bud now.

My plan for tomorrow:

Breakfast - 30g cereal and a glass of fruit juice
Snack - melon & grapes
Lunch - chicken salad sandwich with cup a soup and yogurt and apple
Snack - handful of almonds
Dinner - vegetable wraps

Drinks - At least 2 litres of water

Excercise - 2 hour gym workout

OK so my plan didn't quite work.

I started off great however by time I finish work I was really hungry I felt really really weak even though I ate a large banana about 30mins before planning on going to the gym but by time I finshed work I was still starvin so I didn't go and instead ate a load of biscuits. I dunno why this is it's what I used to eat when I was going to they gym etc before.
Anyway not to have this in my way - I just need to pull myself together and not let this be an excuse to give up.

I shall try again tomorro however if anyone has any suggestions about what I should be eating that would be grand :0)

OK so today I finally got my ass in gear and went to the gym YEY!!!!!

When I weighed myself this morning I was 15stone 5.5lbs so a little bit heavier than I originally thought but not to worry.

So today this is what I've done:

Breakfast = 30g cornflakes and half a glass of fruit juice
Lunch = cup a soup + chicken salad sandwich, yogurt and apple
Snack = 8 almonds + apple
Dinner = tuna and veg pasta
Snack = low fat chocolate mouse

excercise = 30min run + round of weights + 10min on the cross trainer

So glad I finally got to they gym. I was hungry when I finished work and walked passed the door to my gym heading to sainsbury's to buy a pack of biscuits but I then though "what the hell am I doing" so turned back and went and I feel soooo much better for it :0)

Does anyone know how to update your weight loss ticker thing at all?

i`m 30 and started off at 16stone 10lbs i`m now down to 14stone 4lbs. for lunch i always have a sandwich it always fills me up to dinner and beyond and its only about 500 cals.

i`d watch out for pasta, the weeks or days i havent lost or gained a bit is when i`ve had pasta. its probably ok once or twice a week but watch your scales after you`ve eat it.

hi, thanks for the advice. I weigh my pasta and have 75g of dry pasta which isn't really much when it's cooked either, but it was just the right amount, normally I would've put a ton of pasta in a pot and just cooked it and ate the lot lol!

Congrats's on your weight loss too - you must be chuffed to have lost that weight :0)

Welcome to the forum! I can't definitly relate to gaining and losing the same 20 pounds over and over again! It's been the story of my life the last couple years. I was around 224 at my highest and have been struggling around 150. I can't remember the last time I wasn't trying to lose.
I would cut the fruit juice out in the morning and replace it with water and some protein. I bet there are at least 70 calories in the juice and you could eat a hard boiled egg for the same amount of calories but the protein in the egg would leave you feeling fuller longer. A lot of times the fruit juice is just filled with sugar too. I try not to drink any of my calories as I would rather eat them - just a personal preference though!
Looks like your off to a good start and the diary sure helps! Keep it up!!

Welcome to the Forum! I'm pretty new myself here so great to meet you - this place is really great if you're looking for that extra support. Even just browsing through the threads keeps me motivated to keep at it :D

I completely agree with this-it really is great advice. I don't drink any of my calories anymore. I stick to water, soda water/seltzer and herbal teas (calorie free) and only occasionally do I have a very small glass of v8 juice (low sodium if possible). I'd much rather have something tasty that fills me up than a drink which I'll forget as soon as I've downed it. I think that's one of the things that's made the largest difference to me- cutting out the extra juice (and of course pop and all that).

I was also curious what you make your chicken salad sandwich with? :)

Best of Luck with your Journey!! :)

Hi

Thanks for the advice. I like my 1/2 glass of fruit juice though. Throughout the day all i drink is water so I kinda look forward to it. I'll stop buying it and finish the carton I have in fridge - I know you guys are right.

I make my sandwich with 2slices of wholegrain bread, 4 slices of wafer thin chicken lettuce and cucumber. no butter and no may or salad cream or anything like that.

BAD DAY!!! BAD DAY!!!!

I don't know why but today I felt extremely hungry when I was finishing work at 5pm. I ate the same thing today as I did yesterday although I missed my mid afternoon snack so that may have been the reason, but I felt all warm and sweaty and just incredibly hungry that I felt like I was about to pass out. So i didn't go to the gym instead I came home to have my dinner but I also ate some bad things since I was starvin so I'm not gonna put food diary on here today cos I'm a little embarrased at what I binged on when I finished work.

However not to deter me it just makes me realise the importance of my mid-afternoon snack and I'm not fussed at missing the gym. I've already had two gym sessions and if I go an extra one this week then I will be ok with that. I was thinking about going 4-5 times but though it would be wise to start with 3 and then after about 5 weeks go up to 4 times and then after 10weeks go up to 5. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Also I was wondering what other's may have for lunch. I was also thinking that my lunch is not really enough tbh I have been hungry other days but just not as much as today. Thanks xx
