It"s Gonna Fit Darnit!

When I lost weight at the end of last year, I got down to a UK size 16 (size 14 in america I think:confused: )and bought a few pairs of trousers for my holiday in January. They were just big enough to be comfortable, but then overeating during my holiday meant i was back into my 18s before I got home, and since then my 16s have been hung in my wardrobe gathering moths!!:D

So, I guess my goal is to be able to wear my 16s again. Its strange, some people think of a size 16 as huge and would hate to have to wear that size, but to me, I strive for it, and to be perfectly honest, even though I would be right at the top of my BMI range, I would be perfectly content to fit comfortably into those 16s, and would not be too bothered about getting into a 14 (US 12).

PS - If I reach the goal on my ticker (above) I would probably be a UK14, but I am flexible in my goal. Lets just see how I feel 1 stone from now!:D

I've been keeping my jeans in sight and putting them on from time to time. I am still far from being able to actually wear them outside but they are encouraging me to continue moving forward.

It still really bugs me that I thought they were large when I bought them and now I can barely stuff myself into them.

I tried the jeans again and, lo and behold, I got into them almost comfortably! I even went to far as to wear them outside. This discovery led me to my closet where there are several shirts and pants that I haven't worn years that I can now use again!:D

That is really fab, Big Bear. It shows how much progress you have made, and saves you a few bucks when your old clothes are hanging off you ;)

Thank you, all! This was quite the surprise. I thought I still had a few weeks to go.:D

There is still another pair of pants I can't get into yet. There's a shirt as well. Those are the next targets.

I didn't much realize it until I read all of these posts but one of the reasons I do want to lose weight so much is to look better in the clothes I do have. I love fashion and always have but it is a bit scary to be "fashion forward" when the fashion industry is all about stick thin girls. I am looking forward to feeling confident in some funky/fashionable clothes when I get to school in the fall.
:)

Ditto .... I have yo-yo-ed so much that I have clothes in varying sizes, and I can't wait to get back into my 16s. At the moment I don't have a lot of trousers that fit me and about 8 pairs that will fit me at my half way mark!! It will be nice not to have to wear the same couple of pairs all the time.

Even my fat clothes look sooooo much better on me now. I suppose it is not the clothes that are looking better. I am looking better:cool:

I guess it is. It has been a long time since I thought I was looking good. The funny thing is, I think about how much I have lost more than how much more I have to lose. When I walk down the street I want people to look at me and comment to themselves on how well I have done but I know they are just thinking, "There is another guy who needs to lose weight."

I am looking pretty good to me at this point though and that counts for a lot. Those who know me are also impressed. It is beyond wonderful when people compliment my progress. For years I have been hearing nothing but, "Oh, you've gained weight." Yeah, thanks. I didn't know that...

It's a different story now though.

Maleficent, I just looked at your sigline and see that you have lost 23 pounds. Well done! Passing the 20lb mark is a big psychological milestone in my book. :)

It has been a long time since I thought I was looking good.
I think it's cool when people who've worked their behinds off actually do think they look good, you are definitely entitled.

And your attitude is also fascininating to me, I don't often think of men as vane, for lack of a better term, I see too many guys who wear their beer bellies proudly.. and come to think of them as a badge of honor (but their women better be slim and trim :D )

You're cool Bear... and dangit you are looking good...

Ah I'm late again to comment in a thread, but I have been thinking about this before. I have a few things that I want to be able to fit in which would be awesome.

first: I have these two pairs of ... I don't know what to call them... they feel like swimming shorts but they are like capris. Anyway they are very beautifully designed one with leaves and the other with flowers. Anyway, someone gave them to me awhile ago and I really really wanted to wear them but they never fit. So my first goal is to be able to fit into them. Which to me, would be the first milestone. ^^ -can't wait-

Then there is this cute little hooded sweater thing that has no sleeves ( weird sweater) that is strechy so it technically fits, but I want to be able to put it on and zip it up without having to stretch it.^^

Last one ( I swear): is this summer dress thing, now I'm not too into the idea of wearing dresses usually, I really want to be able to fit into it.

Since I gained 30 pounds all my clothes are either too tight or tighter than I would like... but even before, I bought these underwear that are black and say "Nothing to wear" on the bum in hot pink letters. I bought them and they were too small when I bought them so they're definitely too small now but if I could lose enough weight to fit into them.. that would be amazing. lol

I have a closet full of clothes that are 1 size too small. I try some of them on at the end of every week.
Last week I fit into a blouse and a pair of jeans. BRAVO.
I am going to wear that outfit shopping today.
It is a great reward for all the work I have done in the last 2 weeks.
I am going out to buy a case of coffee on a half price sale.
(I am stocking up for the Great Pandemic they say is coming at flutrackers.com) I hope it never comes.
I know my friends will not notice a weight change, and neither will the store clerks I see every week, but I sure do notice I am wearing an outfit I haven't fit into in years.
(Last year I dropped 2 dress sizes. What a relief that was!)
This year I HOPE to drop another 25 lbs and 2 more dress sizes.
Good luck to all of you. And keep trying on those smaller clothes. One day they will fit.

Garage Sale

We had a garage sale last week. It was a great feeling to sell off all of my old clothes. It was a great success because I had a huge variety of shirts and pants in sizes from XXXL to L. I had pants on sale from 46" to 34".

I always keep a pair of pants one size smaller and try them on every two~three days. It helps because my weight loss has completely plateaued but my waist size continues to get smaller...which I hope means that I'm still on the right track.
