is this enough

i currently do 3 sets of 8 reps for each of these exercises 3 times a week in a full body manner

squats
chinups
military press
bent over rows
deadlifts(once a week)
bench press

my friend who also lifts weights (he is huge) told me that i am doing too little and that i have to push my body more. This w/o takes me around 45 minutes.He also says that working a muscle group 1 time a week is best because it gives it more time to heal and grow. I am kind of not believing what he says but his results dont lie.

looks good to me. your friend could be mighty mistaken, he could be natrually huge :p you could do 4 sets of 8 without going to high on volume if you want to.
 
I'm with Karky...3 sets is probably good. 4 would be the tops I'd go.

yer friend has been doing this a while..his body adapted...he needs more volume to keep growing.
yer new. you don't need much at all...and too much is NOT better.
