Is the Atkins diet still available?

My husband and I tried the Atkins Diet Plan about 8 years ago. I lost the most weight ever on that program!

I just wondered if it is still available. The recipes were kind of tasteless at first but we got used to it and the 15 pounds I lost was kind of nice.

Can't remember why we stopped though... I think we missed the bread and pasta...

Instead of trying to go on these fad diet plans why not practise healthy eating in moderation and move around more?

Second that one, stop the diets! The reason it worked was because you reduced your overall calorie intake. Do that on a regular basis, i.e.daily and you will see comfortable, steady weight loss you can manage, without the yo-yo effect.

Thanks for the warning about fad diets. We are not going to try anything like that again. Just wondered if it was still out there.

Currently trying to eat healthier and cut down on the sweets (definitely my downfall, especially at this time of the year!0

Plus the atkins diet is unsafe. both of my parents did the diet for a few months and they both developed kidney stones around the same time. The atkins diet is based around doing away with carbs. Carbs are the main base of your energy so besides the fact that it could pose health problems in long term use you would be tired more often than not and probably start to suffer from chronic fatigue

ATED - Atkins diet is still around, and it's not about doing away with carbs, it's about limiting carbs. Mostly the first two weeks, then you gradually add certain ones back in. It's like you are a diabetic, and your cutting out sugar, bread, pasta, etc. I actually was a part of an Atkin forum similar to this one, and you ought to see all the weight loss pictures. When I was on that diet, I ate healthier than I ever had before.

People always associate Atkins with hot dogs, hamburgers, etc., but it's not about that. It's about eating healthy fats. I ate lots of veggies like salad, spaghetti sqaush, green, red, & yellow peppers cooked in olive oil. I ate tons of chicken, and mine were mostly skinless, but I could eat the skin if I wanted to. Anyway it's about eating healthy fats. I was never hungry in between meals because I was so full on this diet. The side affects were constipation, and I had cramps in my legs no matter how many vitamins I took.

Anyway the reason I am not on it right now is I cannot afford any diet right now. I am flat broke, and with that one I have to buy lots of meats and veggies and I cannot afford it. I know that if I try to go on it without having what I need to eat, I will quickly go off of it. Right now about all I can afford it to eat cereal with skim milk, and eat less of what I fix my son and husband. I cannot afford to buy extra food for my diet right now, and that is really the only way for me to stick to it is to have snacks and my healthy food to eat.

Sorry for the rant about Atkins, but I was always tired of trying to defend it when I was on it, and it is not a dangerous diet. Do a google search on Atkins diet forums, and you will see all the healthy people who did loose the weight on there and have maintained it also.

Fuck diet plans. Eat healthy foods in reasonable amounts and exercise more to create a calorie deficit. It's that easy...

Hi PoisonHearts...

I can see you don't believe on diets..I don't either.. But I have 82 lbs to lose.. can you provide me with your experience..., please? I'm desperate..
can you tell me when did you start? how much time it took from you to lose your 70 lbs? what healthy food you are eating? what exercises you do?

I started walking 30 min/day since last wednesday. & at the end of the month I will buy a bicycle & ride it outside my house. I sometimes jump the rope. is that enough or should I do more?? Please advice me

Thanks

My cousin tried that Atkins plan for months, and it didn't do a thing. According to her at least, she followed it faithfully.
