is it time for a break?

I've been working out for 2 straight months. Today I had an incredibly crappy workout. The workout before was OK, but I think I'm starting to feel a downward trend in the quality of my workouts. Is it time for a week off? Is that too much or too little?

its possible your body is trying to tell you to take a break. 8 weeks is a good stretch. thats the longest i can go without wearing down.

take b/w 4-7 days off. loosen up on your diet a bit. set some new goals and come back refreshed ;)

like dont be 100% strict with your diet. follow it roughly say 80%.

dont skip meals and still get in your protein. but have some of the "bad" foods you might like. shoot, have a doughnut. that fried chicken. the greasy pizza. that......i'd better stop now. :D

i'd be willing to bet that when you start back up again, you'll realize you felt so much better when you were eating right and lifting that your enthusiasm will go through the roof!!

yeah it doesnt hurt to take some time off once in a while...im injured right now because i didnt listen to my body telling me to take some time off...

well, the usual trap that i think a lot of people in the gym fall into. working hard, busting my butt in the gym...then a little nagging pain comes up in my wrist, but i keep working out, thinking that its nothing. i get pain in my wrist from time to time, so i usually think nothing of it. but it kept hurting and i kept lifting for a while after that, and it just got worse and worse, until i decided that, maybe my body is right about this "rest" idea...

it was stupid for me to not take time off right when the pain persisted for a couple of days...considering that's how i hurt my wrist to begin with. ive been having problems with my right wrist since last spring...it started when i was doing concrete for a summer job and lifting 6 days a week on top of that...yes, i know this sounds like a program designed for injury, but i hadnt been lifitng for very long, and i honestly didnt know any better. well, my wrist was hurting, but instead of ignoring it for a couple of weeks like i did recently, back then i ignored it for a couple of months. i finally decided to take time off when the pain became pretty bad. i went to the doctor, and he said that basically, i had done quite a number on my tendons, and that i could probably expect on and off pain for a good long time.

well you would think that i would have learned my lesson from that. but, i think like a lot of people on this board, i love to work out, i love the progress, and i love the way it makes me feel. i hate a day without a workout. i sometimes forget that not letting an injury heal is the worst thing i can do for progress...but im taking it easy right now, just doing cardio...on the bright side, it will be a good time for cutting.:)

haha...whoops...i guess when you're writing a post late at night after a long day, the truth kind of slips out
