well, the usual trap that i think a lot of people in the gym fall into. working hard, busting my butt in the gym...then a little nagging pain comes up in my wrist, but i keep working out, thinking that its nothing. i get pain in my wrist from time to time, so i usually think nothing of it. but it kept hurting and i kept lifting for a while after that, and it just got worse and worse, until i decided that, maybe my body is right about this "rest" idea...
it was stupid for me to not take time off right when the pain persisted for a couple of days...considering that's how i hurt my wrist to begin with. ive been having problems with my right wrist since last spring...it started when i was doing concrete for a summer job and lifting 6 days a week on top of that...yes, i know this sounds like a program designed for injury, but i hadnt been lifitng for very long, and i honestly didnt know any better. well, my wrist was hurting, but instead of ignoring it for a couple of weeks like i did recently, back then i ignored it for a couple of months. i finally decided to take time off when the pain became pretty bad. i went to the doctor, and he said that basically, i had done quite a number on my tendons, and that i could probably expect on and off pain for a good long time.
well you would think that i would have learned my lesson from that. but, i think like a lot of people on this board, i love to work out, i love the progress, and i love the way it makes me feel. i hate a day without a workout. i sometimes forget that not letting an injury heal is the worst thing i can do for progress...but im taking it easy right now, just doing cardio...on the bright side, it will be a good time for cutting.
