Inner vs. Outer leg?

Ok, so my legs retain fat in the thigh area (girl power....) but since I started running, my calves look great! On the outer side of my leg at least. The inner side of my calf is kind of... flat and imploded looking. I do inner leg lifts, the thigh machines at the gym, but of course those target my thigh. What to do about the inner calf muscle? Will working on the calf overall with the machines meant to target it even this out or do I need to target the insides somehow?

to gain muscle in the area? I would do squats and calf raises or calf presses... Also doing some sort of jumping routine may help increase visible muscle in the calves.

depends on where you are talking about on he inner leg. If it is below the actual calf muscle then that is great! mine almost looks like a horse or soemthing, it is hard and lean, the tendons show a bit, and then the calve comes in like a soft ball there (unflexed).

maybe you are losing the fat and so it seems to be getting thinner, because you are getting it down to lean muscle.

Ok, here is a calf from three angles. Ignore the bruise, I lost a battle with the corner of the bed trying to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night. And no, its not a weird angle, I really do have freakishly tiny elf feet. For a girl 5'11" to wear an 8.5, maybe a 9 in some brands if I'm lucky, its just not normal. Sigh.

Anyway, looking at the picture even my outer calf doesn't look as nice as it did when I was just looking down at it :( Aw. But you can sort of see what I mean, right below the knee the leg looks far better on the outside than on the inside. Sort of uneven like. And then the knee happens and... enter the thighs of doom! Haha. My weight loss goes from the extremities inwards. My butt and lower belly will be the last to shape up. I need to work on them a lot...

I’m gonna take a punt on this one based on a little logic and guess work ;)

Basically your calf is two muscles, the one you’ll predominantly see on the outside of your calf is the Soleus and the inside is the Gastrocnemius. The Soleus responds better to exercises where the knee is bent and the Gastrocnemius responds best to straight leg work

Therefore, If you want to increase the size of the inner portion of your calf do more standing calf raises

How long have you been running? Because once you've been running for a while, you should really see a difference in your entire leg, not just one part. But if you're looking for additional exercises, for me the stair stepper at the gym always works wonders.

I've been running since about the end of June (not so much the past couple of weeks because things were crazy hectic) and my thighs have gotten better, the outer calf has gotten better, and I have lost what little fat was on my lower legs, just that inner muscle seems to have some catching up to do.
