Injury During Shoulder Press - Ideas

today I was doing my shoulder press with dumbells. I don't know what muscle I have injured but when I sit, stand, twist, deep breaths all cause a pain that comes through my back under the right shoulder blade around to the front of my body, it also takes my breath away when the pain comes in.

I don't know if anyone here has had this before, if you have I was wondering what methods you took to nurse it back to recovery. Eg Stretching..

It's most likely an intercostal (rib) muscle. The best thing to do is rest it - do not lift weights until the pain subsides. It should get a little less painful each day. If it still bothers you in a week, see your doctor.

Intercostals fit the symptoms. It could also be serratus anterior, which binds the scapula to the ribs. Whichever muscle it is (I can only speculate), the above advice is good.

In few months ago i lso had that kind of a pain then i was advised to take a rest, and i did exactly that for a month or so, and i am back to the gym now and i am taking things bit by bit. The above advice should be good for your situation.

If you are experiencing pain in your shoulder then, you should consult an orthopedic surgeon for help in determining the severity of the problem. This is a really good read for me.

Once its healed the best thing for you to do is learn why this happened and adjust your shoulder press from there. Remember if your stabilizers fail that is failure. Just because your delts can lift it still doesn't mean you should.

Hello

I got very sever injury during my shoulder pressing, prob happened with me that I started my exercise without warm up the body,so for its treatment there takes some days for its cure.

Yes,rest will help you.But think of how to prevent that injury next time. Here are a few tips.Warm up before any physical activity.Breath right during the exercise-take a breath before push and release during the push.Shoulder press with dumbbells is specific exercise. You need to do it right in order to miss injures.Put a imaginable line across your chest and that's the line you shouldn't cross during the exercise.See that pic-View attachment 5389.
