Increased powerclean by 40 pounds!

Thank You Coach Hatch!!

<--listen to this man.

I haven't powercleaned in 2 monthes and got back to it today. Heres how my powerclean shot up 40 pounds:

-My deadlift increased of 70 pounds really helped my hip extension
-Been doing plyos past 2 weeks; which increased my power and fast-twitch muscle

Coach Hatch taught me 2 vital forms:
-Keep arms locked when doing the power-clean. Its NOT a power reverse curl!
-Use a hook grip.

It felt so damn good today.

My old max was 120 pounds. Here is what I did today:

95x3
100x3
105x3
110x3
115x3
120x3
125x3
130x3
135x3
140x3
145x3
150x3
155x3
160x1

I was so surprised I kept going up. Infact I might have been able to pull off more weight if it were not for all the previous sets.

Olympic lifting is awesome :)

awsome work, man! Yeah, the trick is to keep the arms locked until you are finished with the tripple extension

I realllly wanna start doing power cleans its jsut form im worried about.

When standing up, do you keep your hips and back in the same position as you would when doing DL's?

And then once im up its just a quick flick to get the bar up?

in the first pull off the floor you should keep the hips and shoulders raising at the same pace. The set up is different from DL though, as you should lean more forwards (but keep weight on heels) and your shoulders should be in front of the bar.
However, if you want to learn how to do power cleans, you should start with hang pulls, then hang power cleans, then power cleans from floor. check out the technique sticky, there should be a link or two there to olympic lifts.
