I'm new

Hey, I'm Bri. I'm 23, married, and work retail.

Here's a little bit of my fitness history:
My husband and i joined a gym about a year ago. I walked on the treadmill for 25 min, then did 3 sets of 10 reps on 2 leg machines, 2 arm machines, and the sit up machine. I loved feeling strong and energized.

Then, it just got boring. Our schedules were conflicting. Sometimes we werent able to go together so I would just not go. When we went together it was still kinda boring since he does different things than I do, but when he wasn't there it was even more boring. Also, when I worked on my feet, sometimes literally running around the store for 8 hours a day, the last thing I want to do is get on a treadmill and walk some more.

Then in the spring, we started running outside together which was awesome especially because it was a way to make time in our week to be together. I was doing great and really improving a lot and pushing myself a lot. We started this mostly because we go to a music festival every August and I wanted to be fit for that. Lots of hills to walk up, 3+ concerts a day for 4 days, those mosh pits I wanted to be fit for! When we got home from that I was really sick and I stopped working out again.

Now, for our 5th wedding anniversary in November, we're going to Hawaii for a week. I want to be fit for that so I can be active and don't feel lazy the whole time. Currently, I'm running every other day. I do the bike at the gym once a week for about 15 min. just because I have lower back pain and the bike really helps.

The reasons I stopped working out were weak and I really want to always be doing something, not just for an event, but that's how it's been. So instead of the only motivation I have being my husband b*tching at me ;) or an event I want to get ready for, I thought I'd join a forum and talk about fitness with other people :)

I don't really know what my goals are. I'm not really liking that I'm 155. I'd love to be in the 140s. Although, from April to Aug when I was running twice a week, I never lost any weight. But more than that, I loved feeling strong so I might add some arm machines back into my routine. And I feel great after running.. so it's definetly about how fit I feel rather than a number on a scale. So I guess that's a pretty intangible goal..*shrug*

I appreciate any comments or suggestions or hellos!

hello and welcome. I am jealous of your upcoming trip. Hope you achieve your goals....stay motivated and you will achieve them.

Find somthing that does not bore you and do it! Then repeat again and again.

Such as I’d like to start orienteering, they have groups. Map, compass, running, walking, sweating, my kids….or Canniecross, me, dog, two harnesses and a bungee, off we go.

welcome.

welcome the forum

you may not be, but you write very meloncholy-ily <---lol that is listed in the FF dictionary. hahah

anyhow, I'd recommend you go for a run, a nice run, and get a good sweat in. Then come sit back down and tell us what you'd liek to do athletically.

I'd bet you will write, and read differently.

SNAP OUT OF IT!
Fitness is fun, feeling good is great, and you are here now.

Welcome

As Johnnysolo said, find something that is not boring, find something you find fun to do and look forward to. You might try some other sports, or perhaps try some fitness classes at your gym. Fitness classes add a social element as you will get to know other regulars who take the classes. The treadmill or working the weight machines tend to be much more solitary and boring activities. The classes are also scheduled, so easier to plan your day around rather than just being able to go to the gym at a random time and then finding the day is gone and you did not go. All the best in your quest!

I think I just seem to be writing in a melancholy way (a better way to put it?) because I was trying to get a lot of info in there but not make it super long. I just got done running and I ran on tues too.

I definelty don't think I'm a melancholy person :) Thanks for all the welcomes!

Don't know where you are located, but I use to take different routes around the city (I lived in SF) and it was a great way to keep myself motivated! Nothing like interesting scenery to keep ya going!

Welcome :)
