Sup Everybody,

My name is Mike i am 24 years old and i live in Amsterdam.
I weight 231 lbs / 105 kg , and my lenght is 176cm.

I cycle 30 minutes every workday to work and 30 minutes back and can't seem to lose weight.
I try to always eat healthy, and i can't stand it i'm not losing weight.

I drink water the whole day because i don't like tea or coffee or soda's.
Sometimes i drink beer or pure rum ( without cola or something ).

I work as a graphic designer so i sit on my ass from 9 till 5.

What i don't like is that every year my weight seems to gain instead of lose.
I hope someone give me some advice, my average diet is:

Morning:
Bread / Cheese +Milk
Lunch:
Breed + Peanutbutter + Water
Evening:
Cabbage + Pattato's and somekind of Meat

Once or twice a week pasta, once in the week burgers.

I hope someone can relate and give me some advice.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Welcome to the forum.

Looking at your food plan - the following things jump out at me...

1/ You mention having milk... do you opt for skimmed milk? that would save calories?

2/ Bread and cheese... I ended up cutting both these things out of my diet... it can be very tempting to eat more of it - it is often not just bread there but also butter... all in all it can end up being quite high in calories, fat and sodium... you might do better having for instance breakfast cereal with skimmed milk and sweetener or my own favourite which is a fat free yoghurt with fruit.

3/ Bread and peanut-butter... that would not work for me either for many of the same reasons as the bread and cheese... I'd be suspicious of the calories and fat content and would be easily tempted to have more... You could have a massive box of chopped salad with some lean protein...

4/ Pasta can be a good meal but it can also be fattening... it mainly depends on things like which sauce is served with the pasta... if having pasta it is well worth opting for whole wheat pasta instead of regular pasta as it is healthier and more filling...

5/ There are lots of vegetables other than cabbage - and it is well worth you having a variety... different vegetables can be used to fill you up without getting boring and different coloured vegetables give all sorts of different health benefits...

6/ The way that you cook your meals also has an impact - so that means that it can make a difference to try to cook in a low calorie way (use things like an oil spray to reduce the calories when frying, think carefully about the calories in sauces etc)...

7/ Counting the calories would high-light if your problems was associated with portion size.

8/ You mention sometimes having beer or spirits. Some people find that they benefit from stopping having any alcohol - they not only save the calories in that drink - but they find that they become less controlled with their food once they have alcohol in their bloodstream.

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.

Hi Mike and welcome! Some good tips from Omega. You have to create a caloric deficit to lose fat. It's amazing how little food we really need to become and stay healthy. Any exercise we do can be overcome by too many calories in one sitting.

Those things you mention like whole milk, peanut butter, cheeses, of course what quantities you eat matters but personally, I've eliminated all of them from my foods.

Welcome to the forum! I'm studying to be a graphic designer too, what do you specialize in? Do you work for a company or privately? :)
