:banghead:I am new to the forum but thought I could get help or some answers or at least some thoughts about what to do from people who are going through the same thing.
I have been on LA Weightloss for 3 years and then just recently they closed the local office so i have been on my own since then but following the same program.
I averaged my daily intake of calories the other day and it ranges between 1200-1300, and yes there are those days that I binge and go overboard but normally it ranges about the same.
But, I am gaining weight, why, eating an average of 1300 calories can someone gain weight? Does anyone have any idea's as to what could cause that?
:banghead:

Start writing down what you eat every single thing you put in your mouth and tracking their nutritional value. You can use one of the online tracker at sparkspeople or fitday; sometimes we think we are sticking to a certain calorie but its not the truth. Just my two cents....

You're obviously not accurately counting the calories you're consuming every day. And the binging could be totally ruining your hard work if you are eating way to much.

Well Poisonhearts that's a real welcome, thanks!

Young man, I have been counting calories twice as long as you have been alive, nearly 3 times. I know how to count calories. If you are going to be posting in an attempt to encourage and help people you need to learn empathy...especially since you are training to become an police officer.

Anyway, I started a new hormone replacement therapy and after doing some research one of the side effects is weight gain. I started gaining my weight just about the time I started the HRT. Now I am going to have to find a HRT that doesn't effect your weight, always something.:toetap05:

With the information you provided in your first post would you not agree that my response was an accurate assumption of what might be causing your weight gain? There is no need to defend yourself against my harmless post, and please refrain from lecturing me.

SB,
Can i ask how tall and how much you are looking to lose? I have heard meds can affect your weight in many ways. Have you talked to your doctor about this? He/she might be able to guide you in a different direction.

As far as the counting calories goes, you are probably right you are not gaining from eating too much so it has to be the meds. Unfortunately, i cant give advice on that.

Welcome to the forum and good luck

Matt

Hmmm.... I honestly don't think Poisonhearts was trying to be rude... you asked for advice and didn't give us much to go on so I think he was just offering his thoughts on why you might not be losing weight, based on the information you gave.

While encouragement and empathy are both things you will get from being a member here, so is HONESTY which is what makes this forum such a wonderful place to be. It might not always be what you want to hear, but sugarcoating everything would make this type of forum pointless.

One thing you will learn is not to ask for opinions unless you want EVERY kind of opinion. Take it all with a grain of salt, don't be so defensive, and I promise you'll get some great advice and possibly make some lasting friendships here!

Welcome to the forum! :seeya:

Medications can certainly work against weight loss. My poor grandmother is trying to lose weight (in part to keep her diabetes under better control), but has an uphill battle as no less than 4 of her prescription medications list weight gain as a side effect.

Beyond that, in order to get the best advice, you need to give us as much information as possible, otherwise we're just shooting in the dark. :biggrinjester:

Hi

Hello everyone who replied, thank you for taking the time to ask a few questions.
i'm 53, 5'1" and right now weight about 148#'s. My goal is getting to 125#'s. I suffer from anxiety and depression but have been on those meds for a few years so I don't believe they are the problem. The newest one is estradoil for HRT. I was originally on a compounded hormone but the cost tripled so I tried this and since then I have gained like 15#'s or more. I only yesterday started putting the dots together with the change in HRT and the weight gain. According to the web the HRT I am on has a "less serious" side effect of weight gain. Now I just need to find a HRT that doesn't have weight gain as a side effect (any idea's?)
Thanks for your support.

Beyond watching calories, what kind of excercises do you do? I like to build the muscles in my lower body (glutes, hammies, quads), as I call these my fat-burning engine. The more lean muscle you have, the more calories you burn even while you're at rest.

Im new

Im Kelly, soon to be 30 year old Single mom. I have struggled for years with my weight. I at one time was anorexic/bulimic. I was down to 89lbs at the age of 16. My parents got me treatment and I was ok except I still would throw up. I managed to stop all together with the throwing up and ever since then I have ballooned to 200lbs. My goal is 150 and to get there the healthy way. In the last 2 months sadly i have resorted to throwing up again. But I made myself stop. I WILL NOT throw up on purpose EVER AGAIN. I am going to do this with eating healthy and MOVING MORE. I do not want summer to come and be uncomfortable again. I WILL do this I CAN do this. ANy help or tips would be greatly appreciated. THanks and wish me luck :) :hurray:
