Yeah, take pictures! It will make you feel amazing when you've accomplished your short/long term goals.

John,
I think most of us here know how you are feeling in terms of struggling with weight issues most of your life. I think that your plan is pretty solid as well. The best thing that you can do is limit your carb intake if you want to loose weight fast. If you can commit yourself to a low carb lifestyle, you can loose very quickly. When i started, i limited myself to 20 carbs per day for the 1st 2 weeks. Plus walking at least 45 mins /4 times per week. In those 2 weeks, i lost 24lbs. Then as you increase your carb intake, you weight loss will slow down to the normal 2-4lbs per week. This is a great way to get a boost-start loosing. But, be careful. Make sure that you take a vitamin and some type of fiber to keep yourself regulated. Good luck.

Great job

you the man JOHN!!! keep it up!!

Remeber don't try to hit the bulls eye on the first shot with your meals. Just continue to get better and better on your food choices until you get your ratios correct. Have you tried the sweet-n-sour tuna with Brownberry 100% wheat or 12 grain bread toasted? Good stuff!!

Congrats again.
Mike

You can buy it at Walmart or other grocery stores.. Also have "hickory" and a few other flavors. They are made by starkist. Try some extra lean ground beef and don't forget about BBQ chicken breast!! I love it with brown rice or the Wheat spegatti noodles. By the tuna fish they have canned chicken. I like the hidden valley. Low sodium and low fat. Also great on toast, rice, salad....

hang in there!

You have to expect some fluctuation. You've still lost at least 10 pounds in a month!

If the fluctuations upset you - and that was a BIG problem for me - then give yourself a longer time between weigh ins. I tried to go 30 days without looking at my scale when I first started. I made it 28 days and finally looked yesterday. I was down 10 pounds the first time I even looked at the scale. Sure, I was probably up and down all over that 10 pound range during those four weeks, but I never had to deal with the emotional ups and downs that went with frequently weighing myself.

You are obviously working hard and doing things right to have already lost so much in just a month. Keep at it and don't let that scale get you down. Hide it in a closet for a while if you have to! :)

Let’s not get to upset. I know how discouraging this can feel so let's put someogic into it. Don't give up you just received a result albeit not what you wanted to see just a result. It is probably not near as bad as you think! As excited as you were I assume you finished reading the BFFM book. I am going to assume the 2 pounds that you ”gained” is probably water weight but let’s see what we can figure out. Did you happen to eat something with a large amount of sodium in a day or 2 before your weigh in causing you to hold water?

1. Are you eating the right amount of calories to be in a deficit?
2. How many meals a day?
3. What ratio of proteins, carb, and fats?
4. Are you checking your body fat? Did it move along with your scale weight?
5. Did you have more than 2-3 cheat meals for the week?
6. How much cardio are you doing?
7. Did you drink plenty of water everyday? Including your day of the weigh in. The only way to stop the “holding” of water is to continually drink plenty of it!!

Please send me the info and I will do my best to see if I can help.

Stay the course and I disagree with going any longer than 7 days without being on a scale. You can lose to much ground on your goals if you don’t have feedback on your results!! Yes your scale will fluctuate but the overall average should be declining line.

You'll be fine keep believing in your goals!

Let me know.

Your not eating enough or often enough.

OK Here is the problem that I see!! Your body is in Starvation mode. No where near enough calories to maintain muscle and burn fat given your previous habits and your body needs with you exercise level. That is good news you need to eat more often to keep your metabolism up. I bet you're scared reading this but I am right!! Believe me I have no reason to lie or jeopardize your goals . You have to eat the correct proportions of proteins carbs and fats. In other words at least be sure you eat a lean protein and a carb with every meal. I put some sample meals on my site if you want to see them. Please read the book. I eat almost 2800 calories a day and I am going to guess with out your information you should be around 2500 calories. Remember the book and program is only a tool. You have to use it. Your devotion is AWESOME let's just get a little better at following a proven program!! Any questions just write or email if I can help

he's right

He is right. You are not eating near enough. If you want to lose weight the healthy way and keep it off, it is recommended you lose about 1 to 2 pounds per week. That is a reduction of ONLY 500 - 1000 calories from what is needed to maintain your current weight.

I am a woman, weighing 235, and my maintenance calories are about 2400 per day. A young man of your proportions should be able to eat at least 2000 calories a day and still be losing a lot of weight.

You can find information on the amounts of calories in all kinds of foods online. I like to use Calorie King - - because they have a lot of information in one place. I also like to look at the nutrition info for various fast food places on their individual sites. I found that an Arby's roast beef sandwich is only 330 calories and fits well within my personal goal of about 1500 calories per day.

Hang in there. Do this in a way you can maintain for life! Can you really eat tuna salad and carrots for the rest of your life? I couldn't. Just find foods you LIKE and build yourself a reasonable diet.

HUGS! You will make it!

do you think its the tuna that making me reatain water beacuse it does have alot of sodium beacuse i can make dents in my shins.

thanks for the help

john

john,

Read the book. I believe you are are not eating enough! When I eat alot of sodium I retain water but you need to read the book. Eat healthy food that you enjoy!! Chicken, lean ground beef, turkey, brown rice, wheat spagheti noodles, sweet potatos, fish, wheat bread, fruits, vegatables, pork chops. the list is endless. You have the tools use them. It will make this much easier to succeed and maintain. I also agree with the twinmom, 1-2 pounds of FAT per week. Not MUSCLE. IF you do not eat enough you can lose muscle and that will not help you.

im going to read the whole book this weekend i totaly forgot about it.

I just found it really wierd that i hadnt lost any weight beacuse ive been working really hard.

I am going to hold off weighing my self every day im going to start weighing my self every 2 weeks and start eating some diffrent foods im getting sick of tuna and i can tell im holding water beacuse if i press on my shin it will make a dent. and those crackers that i have been eating are loaded with sodium.

hey i really appreciate all the help
