Hi all!

I am new to all this, i mean, it just took me about half an hour to actually work out how to even post a thread...!
I'm Emily, 19, 5'2" and 145lb, I currently have a BMI of 26.5 which means I am overweight and I am not happy about it! I used to be 110lb and have put on the weight in the last year during my gap year etc with going out too much, drinking a lot and eating badly, oh and doing barely any exercise (unless you include drunken dancing on tables...)
I really want to get my weight down to 105lb which would mean losing 40lb. I have my heart set on this, and my head, and my bum to get into smaller jeans...
I joined the gym yesterday and am having 3 sessions with a personal trainer to start me off so i know how to tackle certain areas. The whole process is made a little difficult by the fact I am currently working as an au-pair in Madrid so I eat the food with the children in the evenings and although the portions are fairly small they are loving the oil to cook with... however during the day i can watch what i eat.
I worked out that I have a BMR of 1,488 calories per day but I dont really understand the BMR thing so if anyone could explain?
I really hope to support everyone on their weight loss journeys as well and I think this is such a good place for motivation/support!

If you'd spend some time reading you'd get a good explanation of bmr...

but until you do - it's the calories your body needs if you did nothing all day but stay in bed... you need to activity calories to that as well to g et a ereasonable nnumber of calories.. but do not obsess over that specific number -it's a range - an estimate - you have to see how your body behaves with it.. but you'd be wise to stay at th ehigher end of your calories so you can adjust down if need be...

Read the stickied threads.. and have fun with the personal trainer -paya ttention and ask questions
