the chef salad had 1 boiled egg 4 black olives and white cheese and turkey and ham sliced lunch meat on it and 4 cherry tomatos

Your calories from chicken seem a bit low. Do you have a food scale?

You're full b/c you're used to starving.

no i dont know what a food scale is....maybe it was per cup 147 per cup if thats the case then i need too add 147 to that
so that is 1183.70 calories today

before i started dieting i was bringing in any where from 10k to 15k in calories a day there is no way to account for sure because i would eat what ever and when ever....oh and congrats your the only person to offend me on the site so far

OKAY???? I only capitalized my comment because you read it the opposite way in your reply. The reason I suggested you estimate your prior calorie intake is because it seems lots of people who start to diet often feel like they need to go from 10,000 calories a day to 1,000 or else they wont lose weight. I have a friend on this site who felt that way. Now she eats 2000 cals a day and realizes she's much happier and also that she can lose weight without torturing herself with starvation and salads without dressing. So I figure if you were gaining on 10,000 a day, maybe that means you would stay at the same weight at 8,000 a day, and that would then mean that you could get away with 3,000 or more a day and actually lose a large amount of weight. It also helps to be very conscious of what you were doing before so you dont find yourself slipping back into that slowly but surely. So why I have offended you I dont know, but I'll just leave it at that.

im not offended any more i thought you were being sarcastic i just dont like playing around like that but thank you for explaining yourself you made up for it :D

That's some good logic right there from Blancita and ties in nicely to what I was saying about your extreme views, man.

But I understand for you, it's about intense fear of weight regain. Fear/pain can drive illogical/irrational behavior quite easily. And that's why I've been trying to educate you regarding how many calories it requires per day just to maintain 500 lbs.

You could eat triple what you're eating right now and still be in a caloric deficit... even if you have some metabolic condition!

Read that again.

I also like the advice someone else threw your way about ditching the scale for a while. At least until you get a handle on your nutrition.

well steve how was my intake so far today its almost 1200 and if i decide to eat cereal tonight it will put it at 1500

Definitely not being sarcastic! I sympathize with the situation your in and believe me, I am routing for you so very much!

thank you very much i will try this new diet and if it begins to work then praise God and if not then back to the basics

Certainly better. And to be clear, I was equally concerned about the lack of nutrition in your diet. Not just the amount of calories.

Here's a sample 1600 calorie diet for reference:

Meal #1
shredded wheat cereal 1.5 cups
skim milk 1.5 cups
strawberries 1/2 cup

Meal #2
oatmeal, quaker oats 2/3 cup
egg whites (scrambled) 4
egg, whole (scrambled) 1
grapefruit 1/2 large

Meal #3
brown rice 3/4 cup
chicken breast 3 oz
green beans 6 oz

Meal #4
salmon 4 oz
broccoli 1 cup
yams 4 oz

Meal #5
ground turkey breast 3 oz
light italian dressing 3 tbsp
Large mixed green salad 2.0 cups

I don't show you this so you follow this exact diet. I show you this so you can see how much variety you can have in a diet. And this would still be very low in calories and nutrients for someone your size, IMO.

And I'll add, if it doesn't work, you're 'forgetting' about foods you're eating. There's no way a man your size can gain fat eating 2000-3000 calories per day. I don't mean to be blunt, but it's science.

hi disciple,
wow, i think you've done an amazing job by loosing over 100pounds in 6 months! i've been struggling with my weight and recently changed my ways and hoping to loose weight, i'm 146kgs (320pounds i think), and i'm just 5feet...so i'm really working my butt off at the gym and now health eating...i get weighed in 3 weeks so will report what i've lost then. I know what you mean about work out partner being flakes!! ;) I've had em all do it to me...but I realized at the END....IT'S ABOUT ME!!! WHETHER OR NOT THEY SHOW UP, I SHOULD!!! MOTIVATION COMES FROM WITHIN!!!....then it gets easier to do when your partners are Flakes!! PSH!!! Nothing can hold you back if you really want it!!! :iagree:....maybe you can find something to do small everyday...that you can do WITH OR WITHOUT anyone showing up or having to be there to do with....

.....I'm working on the consistency thing too....:blush5:!!! WE CAN DO THIS THOUGH!!! ;)!!

I am so impressed by you!! You are INSPIRING!!!! Congrats on losing those 100lbs, I'm sure it was a LOT of HARD WORK!! I know you can get to your goal!! You have a great attitude!!! Keep up the great work!! I'm rooting for yoU!!! :D!!!
