I want to Loose muscle

Hey there everyone,

I know it probably sounds a bit backwards but I want to loose some muscle, I have recently applied to join the Royal Navy, and under a watchfull eye for both weight and running ability. I do naturaly have a large build meaning I tend to build muscle very easy, also being 6ft 1" Im also carying a good height. The navy requires of me to maintain Under 98KG, im currently 96KG, they also reqire of me to complete a run of 2.4KM in 11Min. My problemsIs that Im not really what I would call overweight if you take into account my build and muscle, but I would like to burn of some of my muscle to heelp loose some weight and make the running easy. I dont want to go at it harseh but I would like to lean up a bit. Any Ideas? I would rather not go down a medical rout?

Many Thanks.

I would generally lean(im punny) towards higher repitition lower weight exercises.
If your body naturally recruits larger muscle fibers you could try stimulating the smaller ones. Your smaller muscle fibers are engaged when performing workouts that do not require very high levels of power. So aim for higher repititions and lower weights.

And btw, damn you! lol!

If you don't care and you really want to lose muscle, lower your protein intake. This will hurt you in every performance aspect.

Start training for your running you'll lean out plently.

I don't think loosing muscle is the smartest thing to do. You shouldn't do that. Instead you should maintain the muscle you have and do more cardio and burn your extra fat.

Loosing muscle could actually increase the time it takes you to complete the mile

You want to lean up=you want to burn fat.
You need to run 2.4KM in 11min=practice running to hit this goal

How about running a cross between what you need for your goal, running sprints, and building on absolute strength rather than hypertrophy.
