I want to be a US Army Soldier

Calitoke90-

DUDE! We have something in common...well sorta.

I want to become a U.S. Marine! I'm 15 and glad to see i'm not the only one here who wants to go into Service.

Since i'm new at this forum i only have one tip. if your not use to running don't run hard every day. I did and messed up my leg and couldn't run for a week which made things worse.

About your Dad. Jus' tell him that its your decision and that you're going to do it if he supports you or not. Hopefully he'll stop the sabotage lol.

Lol yea ive been running alot im starting to feel the after pain but hey atleast it keeps my mind off good food! haha. Yea tom I turn 17 July 28th so I want to be down to 140 but them I am gonna start weight training like crazy to build muscle. I look at it like remodeling a house but im remodeling myself.

You need to look more into your weight loss because you are going about it the wrong way. Tom was right about eating 1500 calories, except you should even be eating more, like around 1800. What you are doing is very harmful to your body, and you'll most likely just gain the weight back if you keep this up.

June 12:

breakfest egg, egg white, 2 wheat bread calories:

Lunch 2 wheat bread 2 slices ham

dinner cabbage soup

Snacks 1/4th a cantaloupe 1 apple 1 box of instant pudding(fat free sugar free)

Total Calories: 1076

Excercise: run 1:30 hours

Dont worry I will prolly be eating more calories for the simple fact that sometimes my dad cooks like spaghetti.

I appreciate the fact that you're gung ho about joining up. Great. But you need to think about how to sensibly get to your targets. Do you want to go into boot camp with no strength at all? Do you really think that a couple of weeks of weight training once you lose a bunch of weight will make up for all the lean body mass you've lost?

The way you're going about this now, you're going to end up being skinny, but 25% body fat. You'll have very little strength left at all.

Get your calories up to acceptable levels. Eat enough protein. If your dad makes spaghetti, great -- just ask him if he can do it with whole wheat pasta instead of white noodles, and eat more meatballs than spaghetti.

Do you realize that in your run, you consumed more calories than you ate all day? How do you think your body's going to respond to that? Over the past 5 million years, our genes have been programmed to deal with caloric shortages by saving fat and depleting muscle. And that's exactly what's going to happen in your case.

And what's the big rush about going in on your 17th birthday? You can lose weight sensibly, take a bit more time doing it, and the army will still be there.

Calitoker, you need to read some of those posts in the link I gave you. Your questions will be answered there. Don't go into this with your eyes blindfolded; you'll regret it!

Also if I excercise more do I need to eat more calories? Can you give me a tool that tells me how many calories I should eat to lose weight and what not.

I am gonna try to eat 1800 calories a day to lose weight and run 2 hours a day. I think that is good enough not to go into starvation mode but still lose some weight if it isnt tell me.

Run but damn bro im hurting I gained 4 pounds lol it's eather because I didnt eat enough or just because i weighed myself in the middle of the day eather way I am stepping it up 1800 calories this sucks:eek:

i dunno man.

I think i'm gonna try a 1000 calorie diet along with running and lifting weights a little.

dude i think you could be just gaining muscle and it could also be cause you weighed yourself in the middle of the day.

yea I will weigh myself right when I wake up tommrow to see if thats what it was. I dont think you can gain muscle from running though.
