you'll want 3 full body workouts per week, mainly compound exercises.

I'd start with a couple warm up sets, and like 2 working weight sets for now, and after a few weeks you could add a set to each exercise.

make sure your diet is spot on. if diet sucks, no amount of lifting is gonna get you where you want to be.
you cannot build a monument without the raw materials: carbs, protein, and fats.
 
i have pretty much the same status and goals as you do. im a beginner too.
i made a thread like this a couple days ago and got a lot of recommendations like the one above ^. heres what a really educated guy(user name is bipennate) suggested to me:

just go to the hyperlink phase1: Iron Manual and read it and download the beginners log. i did the first workout of the program today and it was a full body 45 minute exercise consisting of 3 triads.
