I need to lose weight...

So im not gonna write a story for you all
To cut it short i was born with a bad metabolism... i exorcize a decent about.
I am currently 16, 6,0 and am 210 pounds... people say i only look about 175-180 pounds. I recently ran a half marathon and am always active...
I rarely eat at fast food places (subway one a week maybe less)
and i go for 5K runs ever 2 days and do light working out ever second day.
so when i run i can keep a very decent pace for the first 6M at 7 my feet start to hurt, and at the 10th mile my legs kill me... but not bad enough to stop... so basically what i am wondering what i am doing wrong? i eat like im in good health (low calorie) and exorcize allot. so why am i getting a big F-You from life by gaining so much weight? any suggestions to what i should train?

If you are trying to lose weight I would suggest using the Hoss Sticky: Nutrition 101 under the category.

It is a good way to get your BMR figured out the calories you need to maintain your weight while resting. This will let you know how many calories you need to stay below in order to keep a calorie deficit. The forum also has a lot of other good information on eating properly and talks about the Fitday website which as he says is a good website for calorie tracking.

I would also suggest considering switching from the 5k runs to a more HIIT geared program. Information on HIIT can be found on the forums at the Interval Training Sub-Forum under the Running and Cycling category.
HIIT training is generally considered a more effective method of losing weight than steady passed cardio.

Not sure what light working out means to you. But you may want to consider focusing on Strength Training on the light work out days as the more muscle you have the more calories you burn.

If none of these things seem to help in losing weight you may want to consider seeing a Doctor. I have met people in the past that have a Thyroid problem that hinders them in losing/maintaining weight. There are medicines available that can at least help with the problem.

Oh and sorry I couldn’t just add the links to the forums I mentioned but I don’t have enough posts to do it yet. lol

Hope this helps and good luck.

You could very well not be eating enough. You should incorporate some strength training and not "light" workouts.

I'm failing to see how a 5k translates into a 10th mile in your running, seeing as a 5k is only 3 miles. But that's a different issue.

What is your diet like? What is your workout like?

ride on, sorry if i wasnt being clear :) i have always been a LONG distance runner.... i run half marathons about ever 2 months... 13.1 miles and thats where all the 10 miles things came in :)

I think what has happened is your body has adapted to your routine and has become efficient, i.e., burns less calories to do the same amount of work as when you started.

Either, eat less (calories eaten must be less than calories burned or you gain weight) or change up your routine. As previously mentioned, take up heavier weightlifting, interval running, cycling, etc.

Also be sure you are fueling your body thoughout. Training for a marathon and weight training could be a tremedous stress on the body. You have to increase your protein intake and your rest.

I learned some tips from Doctor Friedman on the Balancing Act on lifetime that could help you lose weight such as not drinking diet soda, not skipping meals, eating smaller meals etc. thebalancingact.com/show_segment.php?id=1021

I hope this helps you out.
