well i know this is the newcombers threat but i've been a member for a while but i dont post a lot... in fact its rare lol

anyway i really need help.

i've been working out since november 4th, and its january 6th now. i weighed 172 to begin with now i'm 162.

i wanted to lost the fat on my stomach and make it flat, but its not happening! every single nite now for a while i've been doing 100 sit ups, 50 sit ups with my exersize ball. weight lifts, leg lifts, bench pressing to get rid of the man boobs but it aint happening!

i've seen some results but i'm gaining it back.

....one problem is i dont run or do any cardio. a reason for that is i live in a bad neighborhood so it isnt really safe to go out running, even at like 5 in the morning. and i'm short on cash for a exersize bike or treadmille. is there anyway to start losing this fat i'm starting to gain back??

here's a pic of me from like a week ago i think

im gaining some fat back though... please help, im dieting to... i want this fat to go away and love handles and man boobs

First of all, 100s of sit-ups nightly isn't going to help flatten your stomach. It is 90% diet. I would suggest adding some cardio as well. What does your diet look like? How many calories are you eating? Give us a sample day and maybe we can help you out.

alright i'll tell you exactly what i do on an average night, ever since november 4th.

i start out with 100 sit ups/ crunches, or whatever you want to call them.

then i get my exersize ball, put it under my legs, and left my legs up to my chest, 100 times.

then, i do 20 dumb bell lifts.
20 front lifts with the dumb bells.
30 bench presses
15 curls
20 squats with the bench press

then i do body twists with the exersize ball in my hands, i bring my right leg up across my left side of my body, and other way around.

then 20 leg lifts each where i sit on the side of my body and lift them up, to get rid of the love handles.

like i said, its hard to fit cardio into my workout cuz i live in such a bad neighborhood. and honestly i'm only taking in about 1300 calories a day, i try to eat only 4 meals a day

Hi luvzccr,

Falco is right - diet is huge - and really, it's the cardio that will burn the fat, the exercise will tone the muscle so that when the fat is gone, you will see the definition.

That being said - I can definitely see a diference from the 04 Nov picture to the new one. You are making strides.

click that to see the better body picture from the front angle. i just wanna lose those love handles and fat so bad, i want to be slim

How bad are we talking, in terms of neighborhood? So bad that someone would seriously try to shiv a jogger?!

Have you considered getting a cardio tape or DVD?

i'm honestly starting to think of getting up at 5:00 a.m. to start running even though its not real safe...

what do u guys recomend is good for running? like 3 times a week for 3 miles?

How tall are you and what is your age? 1300 calories seem really low. I would suggest eating 5-7 times a day, every 2.5 - 3 hours and add some cardio. I really think your not eating enough and your progress has stalled. You got to eat to lose weight my friend.

the neighborhood at night is bad sometimes, depends on the day i guess. but im 16 years old and going out in the dark and running around my neighborhood, idk if thats to safe or not...

as for the cardio tape or dvd, i never considered it, no, but partly because my dad sleeps like 24/7 and he gets pissed off if the slightest noise wakes him up.. so he wouldnt like it hearing me pound my feet on the ground or whatever, know what i mean?

i thought that to... but in my first 2 weeks that i was working out back in november, i only ate 3 things a day, i woke up, had cereal, at lunch, had something from school like a burrito, and for dinner had more cereal, i did this for a week and lost like 6 lbs.

i guess i can try to eat some more, but i thought the more calories i ate, the more fat i'm bringing into my body

It doesn't sound like the neighborhood is worth going out in...is your room upstairs? Is there any time of day you're home and your dad isn't?

What about an ipod, do you have one? Can you dance (like crazy) with ear phones?

You do need the cardio - and yes, 3 times a week for 45 minutes to start would help.

And Falco is right, you do need to eat to lose weight - if you don't eat enough, your body will think you're starving it, and will hold on to calories. Your metabolism will not burn as efficiently.

Well the first 2 weeks, the weight you loss was probably a lot of water. Then you are resticting your calories so low, sure you will lose fat and a lot of muscle too, then your metabolism gets used to being starved, shuts down and holds on to what it has. Calories are not going to bring fat into your body if they are the righ calories. 25-30% of them calories should come from fat!

my dad is on disability so he doesnt work and is home 24/7, he never leaves..
and i live in a mobile home actually so there is no upstairs, its just the basic 2 bedroom mobile home with a living room and kitchen and bathroom. pretty small..

and no, no ipod :(

one reason that i cant get up in the mornings either is because its so hard for me to get up that early. plus i have school at 8:00, so i'd smell like sweat if i ran that morning,... but of course i could shower but its soooo cold when u get out. i just cant stand that coldness

Could your neighborhood really be so unsafe that jogging at 6:30 a.m. would be hugely dangerous? Seriously, where do you live? I used to live in California and I can't think of a place that would honestly be that bad... I'm not saying you're wrong, maybe you're right.

So about the video, do you have a garage? Or an outdoor area where you could plug something in?

well i'm afraid of what im eating is bad for me to be honest with you! which is why i stick to cereal and measly little small snacks.

see... like take out, i got some just the other nite, i asked for one hamburger from mcdondalds. i ate it and worked out right afterwords cuz i was afraid that its so fattening.

i've tried eating vegetables and such but i just cant, its not an aquired taste to me, it tastes horrible :-/ there are some healthy foods i eat, but there is a lot i just cant

I hear ya on the coldness - that's ahem...kind of what was keeping me from my morning cardio for awhile...

OK - so you can't run in the neighborhood or work out at home...is there a track you can run on at school?

And YES, you do need to eat more. Falco explained it perfectly...you need to eat to lose. (It boggles the mind, doesn't it?) ;)
