Based on recent events involving social drinking, here is my take.
Give up the partying for now and buckle down to lose the weight, chances are you won't miss drinking as much as you think and being fit feels 1000 times better than being drunk. This is a threshold moment for you on weight loss as far as prioritization goes here, because you have to seriously want it. If you can't give up something like beer it's going to be tough for you because it's tough journey.
As an added bonus when you are a fraction of your former weight you get drunk really fast if you do drink, so if that is your goal a few shots of whiskey will do the trick.
If I am drinking socially, and I do very rarely, I like to drink straight whiskey on the rocks. Preferably single malt, but a good vodka or whiskey will do. Glenmorangie single malt would have to be my top preference. You can mix hard liquor with coke zero if you can't hack it, but beware that stuff, I am totally against artificial sweeteners as well as caffeine so I avoid it. Hard liquor has the least amount of calories to do the job as compared to beer which is like a big bottle of bread. Bonus if you actually enjoy it too as I do with a good single malt.
