I Failed Myself Miserably

I couldn't find the courage to come back here and face the truth.I am so ashamed of myself. After loosing 72lb and coming frim 235lb to 162lb, I fell of the vagon. Not just fell. I spent this past two month feeling very depressed and sad. I binged all this time. As a result - I have gained 30 lb back and now my weight is 192lb. I deserve every bad word you are going to say to me. There is no excuse for letting myself go after so much affort and being such a pig. I am starting all over. My goal weight is 135lb. So help me God.

Don't be so hard on yourself - so what, you fell off track for awhile. Here's the key - what type of diet were you on before? Maybe you deprived your body too much? I know because I have done that before and then all of a sudden I lost 20 pds and then gained 30 back because I wasn't following the right type of diet. My body felt like I needed to eat. God, how depressed I was when that happened. Now, I am back on track - the key for me was to find a diet program that I knew I could stick with. I also have one cheat day per week and believe me, I totally look forward to that day.

It helps me keep on track --- after that one day, I feel miserable and it makes me want to diet and exercise even more that next day - but by the time that 6th day comes, I guarentee you I am ready to have that cheat day again - :)

Have you thought about what foods you like to eat when your not dieting and how to make them into a healthy food? It is possible. And bottom line - keep motivated. It always helps me too to go out and be around people, that way I am not at home eating all of the time. Or even set a goal - are you going to a party soon? Wedding? On a vacation? These are great motivation tools as well.

You're now at the point of starting again - don't lose track and don't lose faith in yourself - You will get there if you stay focused.!

I'm not a religious person - so God isn't going to help you - you however, will help yourself.

you've been down this road before so you know the way... you can do it - doesn't matter what you did yesterday as long as you've learned from your mistakes.

Head up - chest out - stand up straight now march young lady... you can do this...

Oh well, you screwed up. At least you didn't gain all of the weight or more back. Forget about it and move on. The time is now.

Well, in my book, you still have lost 40 lbs., which is a great accomplishment. And even more importantly, you caught yourself before you gained all your weight back. So no -- you didn't "fail yourself miserably." You came of the track for a while, but now you're back on.

Hey, if losing weight were that easy, we wouldn't need this forum, would we?

So -- just get back in the saddle, make yourself some short term as well as long term goals, get the support you need from here and everywhere else you can, and recommit yourself to your journey. Congratulations for getting back on the wagon.

i completely agree with the above.

yes, you fell off for a while, but at least you didn't gain it all back, or more!

there is no day but today, so get started!! :)

you can do this!!!!

I'm wondering something. You said that you have been very depressed and sad over the past two months. I'm not sure what part of the world you are in? Is it winter where you are? Any chance you could be suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder? Here is a link to info on it:

I think we'd all be hypocrites if we said mean things to you. Most people trying to lose weight have fallen off of the wagon before. I know I sure as heck have.

I guess my next question would be, are you dieting or are you making a lifestyle change? Dieting doesn't work. You need to make changes that you can really see yourself sticking to for the rest of your life.

Now that you are starting over, you may want to sit down and really analyze what made you fall off of the wagon to begin with. Once you figure out what it was, think about and plan for how you are going to deal with that situation if it comes along again.

The good thing is you've decided to start again. You're not giving up. We're all here to support you and cheer you on and help you pull yourself up by your boot straps.

Just because you are not religious doesn't mean that other people don't find comfort & support in religion. There is no need to belittle other peoples beliefs.

Back on topic..,
I'm sorry that you had a bad time Coco, but try not to be too hard on yourself, concentrate on the positives & start again where you left off, good luck. :)

Thank you, Adria:) . Answering your question - I was on a great diet and didn't feel hungry most of the time, I ate mostly fish, veggies, chicken and exercised every day for an hour. It's just that I have lost motivation and started to eat even when I didn't feel like eating. Still trying to figure this out. And, YES, speaking of goals, I am plannining on going to Italy in August and would absolutely hate to be fat on my vocation. Thank you for your support, it really means a lot. Thank you!:)

Good to see you again,Mal:) . You are doing such a great job and you are truly an inspiration to me. I know I have been down this road before and I know exactly what to do. I just can not figure out why do I do it to myself. Not look for an excuse or anything, but I did have couple of rough months healthwise with my thyroid. Thank you for believeing in me. I will give it my all. This time.

Hey, TomO, THANK YOU! :) I do still have my 40lb loss. I can only imagine how terrible I would feel if I would gain all of my weight back! It always helps to look on things from the positive point.:)

I am afraid weather has nothing to do with my sadness. I live in New York. I do, however, have hard time with my thyroid and I know that medication can contribute to my mood, but I am trying to not to give up. Thank you for your wonderful advise with regards to really analyze my diet plan - I am panning on doing so immediately. Thank you for your support!:) :) :)
