We've been friends for over 45 years Maria and back then we used to borrow each others clothes because as students we had very little money and if one of us was going out somewhere posh we could take our pick of the other 2 wardrobes. Both the girls now live together and have far more money than I could dream of.I can't keep up with them with birthday and Christmas presents and although I have been saying for years 'DON'T spend more than $10 on us' they totally ignore me.So I knit them aran jumpers and woolly socks and, bless them, they are always so appreciative,even though they could afford to buy much better.Go Stanley! Also: go Mark; what does he say about his progress? That´s really sweet of your friends to send you such a lovely present. I never dare buy clothing for anyone for fear of offending them with my bad eye for sizes.
My mum used to get a cold every Christmas, which she put down to being extra busy because she was a single parent and holding down a responsible job. Ummm she and I were/are both trained nurses but it was one of mum's domestics who pointed out to her that she was most likely allergic to the tree!Polly´s positive version of doomsday prep... I love that. Dermatitis is a real pain in the... affected skin area though; I ´m glad it´s starting to get better. I get the same from carrying the christmas tree into the house. I guess it´s all those essential oils, they can be highly irritating.
She got an artificial one and her 'cold' disappeared. When mum died a few years ago aged 94 a heck of a lot of her old staff came to the funeral and this domestic stood up and told the story at the end, the bit where anyone could say a piece or reminisce about mum.
