Don't feel guilty about it Polly. You have earned it & will enjoy looking nice. They all sound lovely xoxo

Sounds really nice, sounds like you had a good time. How is your husband? Has he reached his weight loss goals as well I know you are inspiring him
I am using your success as an inspiration for myself Thank you and best of luck keep up the good job

Hubby is going down the scales steadily Envizioner
Hope you stay in touch Cathylam and welcome to the forum.
Thanks Cate and Maria I had a belated birthday present this morning from friends overseas. A beautiful beaded summer top with split sleeves. Much more expensive than I could ever afford.
Right then Mark and I are having a competition, who can grow an avocado from the stone. We went to the supermarket this morning and bought a pack of 2 that felt nice and squashy. We checked with Ellie, the grocery manager, and she assured us they weren't GM. She wouldn't dare lie to me because her mother and I were girl guides together in 1963.
We have tried once before, but didn't get any where so this time we have peeled off the outer husk and found that the stone in both has started to split so that's a good sign.Mark has called his Tarquin and mine is Stanley
No needto water this evening, itis raining. Thank goodness because our water butts are nearly empty

Go Stanley! Also: go Mark; what does he say about his progress? That´s really sweet of your friends to send you such a lovely present. I never dare buy clothing for anyone for fear of offending them with my bad eye for sizes.

Glad to hear your husband is doing well and succeeding in his goals as well Good Job to both of you.
General question for everyone... Trying to start a discussion... What is the hardest part you find in Losing Weight, Getting Fit, Eating healthy?

We've been friends for over 45 years Maria and back then we used to borrow each others clothes because as students we had very little money and if one of us was going out somewhere posh we could take our pick of the other 2 wardrobes. Both the girls now live together and have far more money than I could dream of.I can't keep up with them with birthday and Christmas presents and although I have been saying for years 'DON'T spend more than $10 on us' they totally ignore me.So I knit them aran jumpers and woolly socks and, bless them, they are always so appreciative, even though they could afford to buy much better.

I guess it´s a bit like me buying stuff for my mom and dad: they have everything they need and if they WOULD need something they could buy it for themselves way more easily than my sisters and me combined. But they´re pretty awesome, and we want them to know we feel that way, so we get them something anyway. And I´m sure your friends appreciate something handmade with love to things they can buy.

I'm not ignoring you, but we helped a neighbour dig out an old yew hedge in his garden at the weekend. We were, along with others, on cutting it up to go in the skip (dumpster ) I wore gloves but yesterday I woke up with a contact dermatitis from elbow to wrist. It is the most horrible rash and very itchy. The cream is helping and I feel a bit easier today. On top of this I ignored all the 'Polly go and have a sit down you are looking pale' advice and along with the rash, my knees had me awake all night:mad:
It is so frustrating when you cannot do all you want to do.
Wimbledon starts the last week of June.Queens is on at the moment followed by Eastbourne. I have already filled the freezer with meals I've cooked in advance so apart from housework I am free to watch

:D Polly´s positive version of doomsday prep... I love that. Dermatitis is a real pain in the... affected skin area though; I ´m glad it´s starting to get better. I get the same from carrying the christmas tree into the house. I guess it´s all those essential oils, they can be highly irritating.

My mum used to get a cold every Christmas, which she put down to being extra busy because she was a single parent and holding down a responsible job. Ummm she and I were/are both trained nurses but it was one of mum's domestics who pointed out to her that she was most likely allergic to the tree!:smilielol5:She got an artificial one and her 'cold' disappeared. When mum died a few years ago aged 94 a heck of a lot of her old staff came to the funeral and this domestic stood up and told the story at the end, the bit where anyone could say a piece or reminisce about mum. It was one of the stories that almost brought the roof down... Matron's cold that never was

That is funny LaMa. I am SO allergic to pine trees. We had one inside one year & I suffered badly & it had to come down. The kids were not happy!

My parents have always had a (large) tree. I love the smell (which doesn´t harm me, thank goodness, although Matron´s Cold made me LOL) but touching it is out of bounds even for my mom, who doesn´t normally get rashes (I get those from my dad´s side of the family).

:p Feel free to report it as spam, but for the moment I find this person telling you about the dangers of unnatural bodybuilding rather amusing.

I am so sorry I’ve not contributed to the site. not that I contribute as much as others. But, as the little mouse said when he piddled in the sea, every little helps.

We have had friends staying for a couple of weeks. They are originally Brits, but have been living is NY state for 40 years. WE wanted to give then a really good holiday so I’ve not been on line.

I have gained 3lbs and am just glad it isn’t more. Will post again soon. I’m changing beds, doing washing and long over due hoovering

3lbs is not a big deal WHEN you get right back on track. Which is what you're doing, so go you. Hope you had fun with your friends!

I can’t remember if I told you, back in the winter, about my friend’s step grandson. The one who told his little brother that, if he stuck a marble up his bum he would turn into a wizard? It took a general anaesthetic to get it out. Well he’s been at it again and is suspended from school.

He goes to a very expensive private boarding school. It is situated in the country and the older boys are allowed, on a Saturday, to go into a nearby town unsupervised. He has been buying sweets and chocolate in £1 shops and selling them to the younger boys at quite a mark-up! His dad is furious that he has brought shame on the family but I reckon the kid will be a millionaire before he’s 30

The start of the tennis grass season: Queen’s tournament last week, Eastbourne this week and good old Wimbledon starts on Monday

:D That picture is genius, Pol! The guy´s a real life angry bird :D Also: selling candy more expensive than you bought it isn´t really a bad thing, is it? Candy´s a non-essential good and if the younger kids are too young to have a feel for what candy should cost they definitely shouldn´t be handling their own money. When I was <12 I got... around half a euro of pocket money once every two weeks. Which was meant for buying candy at youth thingy. That´s all the money I got to handle unsupervised and it was very clear to me that I wasn´t getting any more.
