Okay, I'm new here and sign up in hopes of getting some help. To start off i'm 16, about 5'10, and I weigh around 150 lbs. I'm not very happy with my body right now, at all. I'm skinny, but i still manage to have some fat left on my stomach and chest. I use to be a pretty chubby kid, but i'm not anymore. I have tiny arms, my face is average, and my legs are average/small. But I have problems with my stomach/chest area. I still have some what you could call "man boobs". And I mean, it's not huuuge. but when i wear shirts you can still kinda tell. not a lot, but still enough to bother me. I really want them gone and to be flat, or alteast have muscle. I also want to work on my abs, and my arms. So what I need are some tips and help on reaching my goal. I dont have access to a gym quite yet, but there are plenty around here. As soon as I get a car, and get a break from school pressure i'm gonna try and go to a gym. At home I have a weight set and a roller type thing for my abs. where you lay back on this pillow, and grab on to the handles and push forward. but i could use all the help on getting where i need to be. :D

its okay if you have no gym membership, at the moment, its best to evaluate what your currently eating

if i were you

i'd go to this website.

take this test to see how much calories you would need to take to maintain your current weight, thus if you want to lose weight, you would just create a 300-1000 caloric deficit. 3500 calories = 1 lb of fat. this is the cutting phase.

to gain weight, it would be opposite, gaining weight, as in gaining muscle mass though. not fat :] its rather called bulking phase.

also visit this site
at home body fat % test. its not as accurate as the skinfold ones but it will give u an idea where your at.

&

last of all, welcome to the forums, i'm glad you decided to register and be part of our glorious community :]

Okay, the CPD says i'll need 2671 per day. So you're saying if I want to /lose/ weight I need to eat less than that, correct?

and i'm still waiting for the home body fat test to load.. my internet is pretty effed up lately. so it's either that website, or my ISP.

yes, that is correct, i'd advise that you eat around 2200 calories a day. This would create about a 400 caloric deficit for you. but of course, these calories that you consume must be clean food, definitely :] if you follow a 6-7 meals a day plan, maintaining a high metabolism throughout the day, you can lose up to 1% of body fat a week. ((( if you were to eat above 700+ calories less then your supposed to eat in a day, ur entering starvation mode, which you dont want your body to be at )))

& on another note, u have no "choice" to where fat goes or leaves your body =/ so basically saying, doing alot of those ab roller workouts wont get you those 6 packs, as the abs are covered by a fatty layer. Getting the fatty layer to a mininum would be the key to getting the ripped 6 pack abs.

the website that tests your body fat % works fine for me :]

I really think you should considering increasing caloric intake instead of decreasing. You may think you are fat, but you probably just need to add muscle to your frame in order to give yourself some shape. I used to have a flabby chest, but once I added some mass it has gone away. Look into body weight exercises if you don't have access to equipment.

Okay, the body fat test said I'm about 22% body fat, over 30 pounds of fat. Which appears to be average, but still seems like a lot.

6-7 meals a day? Wow. I'm usually only eating 2-3 meals a day. I think I heard it takes around 3 hours for food to digest, so in order to have 6-7 meals a day should I be eating every 3 hours? Not a full meal, I'm sure. Just like an apple or something.

Body weight exercises? Care to stretch that out for me?

EDIT: And before we get into food, I just want to say that I do /not/ eat red meat or seafood. White meat is what I usually tend to eat {chicken}, along with the usual fruits and veggies. Also some bread/pasta.

well of course, you will have your biggest meal during lunch & dinner. thus one of the meals you will have in the day would be around 100-150 calories. like a fruit or nuts. Yes ever 2-3 hours, u'd take a snack, but your biggest meal would probably be about 500-900 calories, the idea of frequent meals is to allow your body to stay at "top" metabolic state, so u'd be burning calories all day long

3500 calories = 1 lb of fat.

haha and to lose weight, u basically need to cut calories from your BMR, which is your daily caloric needs by 400-500, anything over 700+ would be starving your body, thus would be BAD idea :]

Okay, hopefully I can pull that off.
Except for the weekday, cause school.
