Very good question.

I dont know if anyone "worships" Chillen. I made the comment because I believe he could handle the workout based on what I know of his training routine and that fact he already has the 6 pack that the workout is designed to provide. Chillen is respected because he takes the time to advise and provide motivation to other members on here who ask it of him. Just as you and Derwyddon provide advice and also get the same respect, at least from me you do.

Oh come on now....let's put things in perspective.

TFV came on with a lot of enthusiasm & promise....it sorta sounded like spam (and we get a lot of that here)...but time will tell. I think his enthusiasm & confidence was misinterpretted as having some arrogance. He's trying to be a leader, it happens. Whatever. Let's see how things play-out and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Chillen rose to the occassion and blew his fitness wad by proclaiming the "I'm almost 50 and sub 8%". Newflash: Chillen already has an 8-pack, he's disqualified from the 6-pack Challenge because he's already there (and beyond it).

Nobody "worships" Chillen. He's a popular guy cause he strives to help & motivate people in his own post-excessive-drug-use way ;) But to his credit, he's comfortable referring people to Wrangell & Derwydon for more technical info. It's all good, leave his Chillenness alone.

Gooch, you could do better.

Mabye TFV is looking for some people to make a change and then use for reference...or maybe he just feels like helping people. Time and again I've contemplated putting together a Fitness/Health center and bringing together a great team of people to offer help to the obese & unhealthy masses; there's a sense of Godliness in helping people. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't see a spam/profit motive here for TFV, I think he just came across with enthusiasm, confidence and a quick rise to show leadership....and a few of us jumped on him with well-placed skepticism.

Enough.

Hey, I'm starting to show some ab lines and would be interested in hearing about any program that could help me develop and get further. TFV, count me in. And I'm in California so maybe I'll take-on all 5 of your team at once......years of watching professional wrestling have given me the intellectual advantage & edge: I'm good with the chiar, table, referee distraction and misdirection. Hook a fatty up! :D

Seriously; I'm in!

Hey BikeSwimLaugh thanks for putting things in perspective like that. I think you did a good job. And glad to hear that you will be joining the challenge/journey to have 6 pack abs by June 1st. I hope that I can help you out as much as possible. I think its gonna be really cool and help out alot of people have a better summer with a better body. Everyone wants 6 pack abs for summer so why not try this out. Haha and you should definately come out and take on the team. We'd love to have you. We havnt used tables and chairs in a while though so our technique may be lacking haha
Seriously though Iv never fought someone with a chair before, but I have fought someone that pulled out a knife at a party a few years back which was pretty exciting!

I'm joking about fighting. I'm too delicate to fight. Besides, I'm Jewish....we sue ;) :D

I'm 5'8" and weigh about 225-pounds (been a month since weigh-in)....BUT I'm being body-fat measured (by a very qualified person & calipers) at about 11.8% body-fat. In reality, I'm figuring more like 14-15% body-fat, but still..given the weight/height, you can figure out the muscular composition.

I've got the vertical side-lines of my abs nicely in and the tops are just starting to emerge...I think I'm on the cusp of seeing some cuts & definition, so I'm pretty close as is.

I'm in Los Angeles. Tell me where we go from here.

And don't let Derwydon get to ya, she's just upset cause I wouldn't get her a cheese pizza the other night. :D

It's anyones guess......but, I know I certainly don't.

I suppose that's a possibility.

Chillen is respected because he takes the time to advise and provide motivation to other members on here who ask it of him.

Well, I suspect if you ask any of the other regular contributors for advice on health & fitness and or issues pertaining to motivation, they'd be more than happy & willing to help out. In fact, based on my short time on this forum I'd say almost any member that has specifically been asked for advice almost always - and generously - provides it.

Just as you and Derwyddon provide advice and also get the same respect, at least from me you do.

With respect to providing advice, Chillen should garner the same amount of respect as any other member who provides valid advice on this forum IMO. With the possible exception of the advice one might get from some of the certified trainers on this forum - which may carry more weight as a result of the fact they are able to draw upon both a solid grounding of academic-based knowledge along with a well of practical field experience dealing with a variety of clients.

Thats why chillen imo is the most respected and most liked member of this forum. He strives to motivate and help people with their problems. When he sees someone is having problems, he makes sure to visit their journals and give a good word of advice, and this is just one of the few reasons many members on this forum including myself go to him for advice. Not "certified personal trainers".

With all due respect, I suspect it would be more accurate to say he may be among one of many well respected members ( i.e somewhere in the ' Top 40 ' perhaps ) on this forum IMO.

He strives to motivate and help people with their problems.

As do many other well respected members on this forum IMO.

When he sees someone is having problems, he makes sure to visit their journals and give a good word of advice, and this is just one of the few reasons many members on this forum including myself go to him for advice

And I suspect just as many - perhaps more - do not seek out any advice at all from Chillen .....for whatever reason.

But rather, seek it from other well respected members on this forum.

Not "certified personal trainers".

I'm not saying all personal trainers are perfect....and granted, some fitness certifications are more highly regarded than others.

That said, for those contributing trainers on this forum for which personal training is either a part or full time vocation, the experience they've gleaned from working with a variety of clients - in some cases 5 days a week year in, year out - is invaluable to us as forum members IMO.

If I was serious about long term lifestyle changes, and I wanted to do it in a safe, efficient and intelligent manner I'd want to seek out some solid professional advice on health & fitness & training. The first place I would start would be an experienced personal trainer ( preferably, certified by the The National Strength and Conditioning Association...but that's just me ) and then I'd get advice with someone who is an experienced university educated sports / nutritionist. I certainly wouldn't seek out the advice from someone simply because they happen to have sub 10% body fat, and I'd be even less inclined if their only academic health science qualifications were degrees in philosophy / psychology & computer science....or, music, French, art history - whatever. But then again, that's just me. :)

But, if you think Chillen has more to offer than some of the more experienced trainers on this forum, you're certainly entitled to hold that view. I respect your opinion.

I just don't happen to share it.
