Let me first say thank you for your help – This is my first post so please be easy on me.
I’ll ask my question first and then try to explain and give you some background.
After I exercise in the heat, currently 100 degrees, I feel hungry, nauseas, have a headache, and have LOTS of gas that if I don’t burp it away I’m afraid I would through up. This feeling usually lasts 3-5 hours.
It seems strange to be hungry and nauseas at the same time but it seems that the only thing that makes the nausea go away is to eat and drink.
I know some of these sound like heat exhaustion but I feel alright until I stop exercising and start cooling down.
Currently my cardio is done by bike riding. I usually try to ride 1 to 1 ½ hours and keep my heart rate at 150-160.
I am 35 years old and trying to get in shape for an upcoming hike that’s 16.4 miles with and elevation gain of 5000 feet. I live at sea level and only have 7 weeks so I’m trying to train pretty hard. I hike with 40 lbs, bike, stair stepper, total gym . . .
I try to drink plenty but I only drink water because I’m on a low carb diet and don’t want the sugar in the sports drinks. I have always consumed LOTS of salt, would think that might help here but. . . it's not.
I don’t know what else you might need to know. Thanks for taking the time to read this and try to help me figure out what is going on so I can keep training hard.
