Jack, completely serious question.
What kind of answers were you hoping to get? (not what answer, I know you wouldn't have asked if you did) but just exactly what kinds of things did you expect people to say?
I'll list you answers I got from another forum when I made essentially the same post, keep in mind the below reply was from a girl, and the text in parenthesis are my thoughts on each suggestion:
• Read a Book that you love. (bought 3 new books online, theyre in the mail)
• Exercise until your limbs hurt (this usually makes me hungrier than normal but it apparently works for her)
• Brush your Teeth (not a bad idea, but I'm afraid of hurting the enamel on my teeth if I brush too much, so sometimes I use mouthwash instead)
• Take a Nap. (my personal favorite)
• Do something different with your makeup. (don't wear makeup but if I did, I would so do something different with it)
• Do your nails (can't find my hammer)
• Play with your pets (I have a cat that can haz cheezburger)
• Go outside, jump on a trampoline, or go for a walk. (I would break the trampoline so I go for walks instead)
• Talk to someone you truly love. (working on that)
• Write your own story. Come up with character names, and their personality. You can make it anything you want. A vampire love story; anything. It's all up to you. You can share it with people who support you. Chapter by Chapter. You can even make your main character have the same issues as you. (I do this in my head, too lazy to write it down)
• Learn to play an instrument. (I liked this one, I'm trying to learn the ocarina atm)
• Write your own music. (no...)
• Clean your house or your room. (I do this a lot, love having a clean apt)
• Take a relaxing shower. (works sometimes)
• Get on the computer. Look for support in your decisions. (like going to other forums and asking how they cope with hunger and then getting bombarded with a lot of very angry posts... check!)
• Hang out with your brother or sister. (my brother is in WA but I'm going to get to see him this summer)
• Make your own crafts. (... nah)
• Weigh yourself. If you've gained weight, you won't want to eat. If you've lost weight, you'll still won't want to eat. (this is pretty effective actually)
• Drink ALOT of water to make yourself full. (so is this, except I use diet soda instead of water)
• Write a huge novel, for your eyes only. (I did this once, 200 pages of crap, but it was fun)
• Keep a journal. (check)
• At night time, if you're hungry, take some sleeping medicine. If will make you sleepy, and you won't want to get up. (I use benadryl because I also have allergies)
I said those were some great tips and that was basically the end of the thread. So then I came here to weight-loss.fitness.com and asked the same thing. Amazing how different forums get you different reactions. You guys are pretty high strung. I'm not really sure why you're so dead set on convincing me that I'm emotional and in need of serious medical help. The people on the other forum seemed to think I was doing OK and were full of suggestions. But I don't want to rely on just one source for ideas.
