HUGE butt, need your success storys!

Hi, I am new in here. Seems a good group of people supporting eachother for the most part. Very nice!

OK, so it isn't HUGE but it seems that way to me. I am 112lbs, 5'4' and measure 36-26-34. Yes it is all natural and yes that sounds good but actually my butt is a flabby mess.

BACKGROUND: I am in my 30's, I used to compete as a light weight when i was in my 20's (at 105 lb) in body building and have lots of knowledge about exercise. I was 112 squatting 225 for reps, I am still 112 and not squatting so much because it hurt my back (even with perfect form) but I still work out - do leg press, etc. and am very strong. My problem is FAT on my butt. Even when I competed that was always my weak link. It is totally genetic that I store a lot of fat there in in my thighs.

I KNOW that is really common for girls and I am not here to ask for exercise advice. I just bought a treadmill climber with a 50% incline that I am putting to use, do my weights and I know how to diet.

My question is.....will I ever have a nice non flabby butt? When I squatted alot it got bigger (muscular bubble butt) but I don't care about that, I just want the fat to go away and it never does!!!! I think I would have to get down to about 90 lbs before the fat stores in my butt would be affected. What I am hoping for is some encouragement, success storys from people that have had the same problem. Otherwise I am just torturing myself in trying to get rid of it.

I would post a picture but it would gross you out.

You'll have to drop down to a low BF to get some of that fat off your butt.

Fat comes off the body in a sheet like manner so it would be nearly impossible to spot reduce the fat from yout butt without some sort of surgery but im sure its not that bad if you used to compete.

The best thing to do is figure out what your calorie requirement is for fat loss then put together a diet based on that.

I'd do fasted morning cardio, 5-7 times per week, at low intensity to tap right into your fat stores for maximun lipolysis. Combine that with a good weight training routine 3-4 days per week and you should see some nice results.

I'd also focus on keeping your carb intake to pre, post, and post-post workout and get some healthy fat, EFA's, in you at other times of the day.

Thanks LV,
I didn't think of the moring cardio before eating, great idea especially now that I have the treadmill at the house. I am going to have to get pretty light to get to that fat storage.
I thought about surgery but the before/after pictures I have seen were not really all that encouraging...

Surgery should be your absolute last option.

Give the diet/training/cardio plan a try for at least 3 months and at the end of that time, as long as everything is in place, I promise you will see results.

I have almost the exact same problem. I'm very muscular and relatively lean on my upper body but my butt is flabby too. The only thing that ever worked for me is doing sprints and running stairs. I used to compete in fitness modeling. That was the ONLY time in my life that I haven't had an enormous amount of fat on my butt and legs.

Well, it is really big to me. lol Lets just say my bikini bottoms can't contain it all. And wearing a thong--------NO WAY.

I know it sounds like it can't be that bad but it is. I may post on the before/after thread if I get the guts up to do so. lol

I have actually lost 3 lbs in the past two weeks so now I am 109. Teresa, what was your weight when you did fitness modelling and your butt looked good?

LV, I am doing the incline treadmill at 40% incline and at a speed that puts my HR at a fat burning level. My sister says not to get my HR up like I do for cardio work if I want to burn fat. Is that right? It is hard to believe that I will burn more fat going slower.........

Your sister is correct. Keep your HR at 65-75% of your max HR, when losing fat is your main goal. I must say that diet is MOST important when trying to lose fat so make sure your diet is in check at all times.

PS
LV what is post-post work out in time? Thanks!
Pre-workout meal should be about 1 hr before your weight training session and should consist of lean protein/clean carb.

Post-workout meal should be a shake consisting of whey protein/fast acting carbs, IMMEDIATELY following your weight training session.

Post-post-workout meal should be a whole food meal consisting of a lean protein/clean carb.

Hope this helps.

:)

goodbye butt, there is just too much of you

Whew, I guess I did need some updated nutrition and exercise advice. Things have changed a little since I competed and I forgot a lot of the rules. Thanks for the advice.
The pre, post and post post apply to the weight training workout- right? And I should do the treadmill at a fat burning level before eating anything to get right into the fat stores.

It is coming back to me now just how much work it was to keep that lean body. lol Well, I have plenty of free time so absolutely no excuse for not doing it.
I will keep you updated, thanks for the encouragement that it can be done. I still would like to hear some more success stories if their are any...

It would be a little more fun with someone to do it with like back in the days a bunch of us beach buddies dieted and worked out together...
Now all my girlfriends have kids and most have made their health and apperance a secondary concern. I guess I am out of my time a little but don't see why 30 something can't look good too.:)

Guess what! My scale is completely off! I weigh closer to 115. It is actually a relief to me that i weigh more because I couldn't figure out how I could have so much fat and be 109. (in the past I looked pretty good at 107)

I was getting a little worried that my body composition had changed so much from muscle to fat that I was lighter but looked bad because of that. (since muscle weighs more)

NOW it makes sense! If I lose about 8-10 lbs I am going to look really good! I don't have a BF tester but I do have a BF scale (don't know how accurate they are) and it says I am 20%. Yikes. Way more then I was back in the day. lol

I was about 120-125 lbs with 12% bodyfat. I'm also 5'4". Now I weigh more like 135 and I don't really like my butt or legs. My bodyfat is probably around 20% too. I measured it at 17% but that was with ME doing it so I'm sure it's higher than that.

Wow Teresa, you were SOLID and had a lot of muscle. I was 107 with 12% BF back when I was training hard. I competed as a light weight in BB contests but the gym owner (good but critical friend) said I had a "beach body" more then a body builders back then. I did win a few though!

Anyway, I just have to get rid of this, I am disgusted with how I let myself get. The front of my thighs are mushy looking and they were always so firm. Wish I had a work out buddy here to motivate with especially on the diet. I basically have to just barely eat to lose this. Thanks for the input.
