Staying motivated is my biggest struggle. Ive got the diet down no problem but i HATE exercise. After working 10-12 hours a day the last thing i want to do is move. lol. do i work out only two days a week? or work out on my work days as well? Cardio is the worst too. lol. Any advice for those who have trouble sticking to being physical?

This question gets asked a lot around here.. search on motivation and you'll find more answers... (I'm too lazy too right now and searching is good for you... it burns calories.. and exercises brain cells :D

But the real answer is -find something you like to do and you wil lhave no trouble sticking to it.. doesn't matter what it is - but find what you enjoy... you will never stick to something you hate doing...

you also might ask yourself why you hate exercising?

I hate "exercising" too because I feel like I'm wasting energy - not that losing weight is a waste! But I always feel like instead of sitting on a stationary bike or working on an elliptical, I could actually be doing "something".

So I save my gym time for things like yoga, Krav Maga, strength training, etc. I incorporate most of my cardio into my everyday life (I walk to work now and take the dog on nice long walks) and into things that I do love - hiking, swimming in the lake, playing kickball/softball etc. I'm sure I don't get quite as good or intense of a workout as I would if I spent dedicated time on a machine, but I can't stay motivated that way.

Find what you really like to do and make that into exercise. It doesn't have to be boring!

If you are working that much check out Tim Ferris's book The Four Hour Work Week and dont say your too busy. You are too busy not to.

Find something fun and challenging. Do you like sports like basketball, frisbee golf, hiking? If you really want to do something that you feel you can use and want a structured inviroment check out Crossfit.com and look up a local gym. They are not cheap but are about functional movement, and overall fitness.

o yes ..definitely everyone faces this at some point in time ..I too get tired of working out and time and again need to push up myself and motivate ..
here are some tips ...

i hope it helps in keep u going on and on ..good luck

I've lost most my weight just by walking. I get lazy and don't want to get outside to do it but after I do I feel so much better. I work downtown Seattle and I make myself go all the way down the hills so I have no choice but to walk back up. Exercising is not always fun but the benefits to me are worth it. Just find something that you like and keep switching it up. I just ordered hip hop abs, looks like a blast, haven't tried it yet so I can't say for sure but I am excited for something new. I think it all comes down to how bad do you want it and if you want it bad enough then you find that determination to exercise and eat right. The days I don't exercise I am really careful about what I eat. Good luck.

How many days each week should you exercise? Well, it sounds like you are new to exercise (or just returning), so I would set a goal of 2-3 days each week. Set yourself up to win by creating achievable goals.

Now, staying motivated. First, what sort of things do you like to do? Do you like bike riding, swimming, hiking, playing basketball, playing with your kids? By choosing activities you naturally enjoy--and doing them more often---you are more apt to be consistent with your workout routine. Lastly, try to find a workout buddy. Working our with a friend makes it more enjoyable and creates a sense of accountability between you are your workout partner.

I agree with all the above posts!! Very good advice.

I would only add - that on the days you really don't feel like exercising- start and keep doing it for 15 min. and if after those 15 min. you still don't feel like exercising- then stop and have a relaxing night:)

Also- sometimes if you think about exercise in the way that it makes you feel- you will also keep up with it longer! Who doesn't feel great AFTER a great run, or great cardio or weight session? Yes-during you might not feel so good- but AFTER- you are long WOW!:)

So- think of that after effect!

Goodluck and just have fun!
