--- How much water should I drink ---

I'm a big fan of the fact that drinking a lot of water helps you flush out your system including your fat cells, and generally helps you lose weight, wish I plan on loosing about 20lb to be at my optimal height weight index. My question is, how much water should I drink on a daily basis? in liters? currently I drink about 2 liters

For weight loss reasons, its recommended to drink around 3lts a day for men and 2.2lts for the ladies.

BUT, there is stacks of controversy around this consumption rate.

Just do your best to clear as much as water a day as you can without forcing it down your throat

OR

Try 1lt for every 25kg of body weight during summer and 1lt for every 30kg during winter.

eg

I would need 3.8lts during summer. (96kg / 25kg * 1)

:)

I drink over a gallon and that is also how much I would say you should if your activitly level is gonna be higher. You can never have enough H20.

There is such a thing as too much water. It's kind of hard to do, but it's possible. Two college students died from water intoxication in a frat hazing incident a couple years ago.

It's not so rare as first thought.

A lot of triathlon people get it a lot.

Basically it supresses the salts in your body which in turn stuffs you right up.

It mainly happens in females, more than males due to different chem structure.

None the less, you dont have anything to worry about. Death by water consumption will happen, but i doubt it will happen to a standard consumer such as myself and yourself :)

Cheers,

Steve.

When there were water problems here in Ontario, a lot of people went for a long time without water. When it became safe to drink again, a whole bunch of them got water intoxication, because they went nuts and were drinking gallons and gallons.

True but for the average person, its not really "possible" persae. There was kid in my flight in basic training who died from overhydration during some intense physical activity.
