how long between workouts?

Hey guys, well i have a question. how mant days should i work out? right now im doing upper-mon, wed, fri. lower-tues. thurs. is that too much? i have read a lot of different opinions on the web on this and some say its fine, others say its too much. which is it? thanks a lot!
 
I 100% agree with the two above.

EVO: Great suggestion Mon/Tues, Thurs/Sat. This split gives you the ability to get deadlifts and other large compound movements in without over-training .
 
I do the same as the OP and have never felt the effects of overtraining, IMO Mon-Fri training is fine so long as you have a split routine

It is recommended that you workout 3-5 days per week for best results. But the trick is that there is no substantial evidence that 5 days is any better than 3. So I suggest keeping it to 3-4 days so you have amble time for rest and recovery.

The actual workout should be somewhere between 40-60 minutes (this doesn't include warmup and cooldown). Anything over this can result in over training. Good LUCK!

Actually, there's no substantial evidence that 3 days is better than 2, although the limitations of all of those studies (total amount of study period) leaves a lot of unanswered questions, regardless...

How would >60 minutes result in overtraining?
 
I've done a bit of research about this and as above, forty eight hours seems to be the suggested time for most people especially if working the larger muscle groups e.g. quaads and pectorals.
Supposedly not more than 72 hours. You should try not to have too many of these breaks per few weeks or else you may lose some mass (although if only three times every three or four weeks it is nothing to worry about).
If you do over rest as long as you get right back on it the muscle will supposedly grow back to its original strength more quickly than usual.
