How Can I Estimate Calorie Loss

I know it can't be exact.
but How can I Calculate how many calories im burning.

My current workout consists of treadmill mostly.

I run the treadmill for about 2 1/2 miles on 7.2 starting speed then gradually increase to 8.4 by end of the run..
then i walk a 1/2 mile on 4.5 speed

Is there anyway way I can calculate this???

thanks guys/gals

Personally, I LOVE numbers, gadgets and devices....I have no hesitation to buy anything from which I can draw inspiration for my perspiration. Sorry, didn't mean to go Chillen on ya there ;)

I always wear a heart-rate monitor, many models offer a "calorie-counter" and it's great to watch the calories stack-up...plus it's a nice guage to see what your heart is doing. The HR-monitor will project the calories burned, and this is done by taking your height, weight, age, gender and a few other variables....it then monitors your heart-rate and runs it through an algorhythm to project your total calories burned. I've found it to be very accurate when compared to those calories-burned charts.

Plus, if aliens abduct you they just may be fascinated enough with your HR-monitor that it'll allow you time to slip away undetected! :newangel:

How accurate are the calory counters that are usually shown on the treadmills anyway? I know mine adjusts every time I increase speed or update the weight (in the beginnging when starting the workout).

By the way - those are some really good speeds you are running there.

I usually use caloriesperhour.com when I want to figure this stuff out. It's cool because you can personalize it for your height and weight, and then there are a great deal of activities programmed in there. Sometimes I'll put in my last 24 hours' activity--including, working, working out, sleeping, etc, to figure out my calorie deficit for the day.
