I’m back!! Wow do I need to be back and reading all your motivating journal logs. I’ve gained at least 8 pounds but it feels like 15. Where to start…
Well Arizona was great – it was so awesome to have all my family together. I started the trip off getting drunk on the plane and then my mom made us a huge Christmas dinner with all the fixings and the drinks continued. I got to do a little swimming – lots of shopping and plenty of drinking. Happy hour always turned into happy day and night. I took my dog for a walk every day I was there and one day did some running around the park my parents live in. The weather was so great. The days in Arizona went by fast and before I knew it we were flying to Fort Lauderdale to get ready to board the ship.
The first day on the boat we did a lot of exploring and drinking – honestly I drank every day for 14 days straight and not just one or two – it was always at least a bottle of champagne and a few daiquiris & martini’s and usually a bottle of wine with dinner. Most nights I couldn’t tell if I was so drunk that I was falling over or the boat was rocking from the waves.
The first day we got to tour the spa and we saw the fitness facility – it was huge and full of new equipment and all the machines overlooked the front of the boat so the view was unreal. They had two personal trainers and were offering some classes. I signed up for the boot camp and after two sessions I was regretting it because they were early in the morning and really kicked my ass – I felt so much better though because of it and in the end I was really glad I did it. Out of the 3100 people on the boat only 7 of us were crazy enough to sign up for this class, lol!! They gave us a copy of the workouts they did though so I got to bring them home and will incorporate some of the routines into my workouts. Hubby and I also went to the gym every morning (well it was usually 11am by the time we got out of bed – luckily we booked afternoon excursions). I would run on the treadmill the days I didn’t have boot camp and one afternoon after boot camp I also did a spinning class – the instructor was so proud of me. I would wear my HR monitor and usually burned between 300 – 800 calories per day. I’m hoping most of my weight gain is water weight from keeping up the workouts.
The food was unreal – I can’t describe how amazing it was. Every morning we would have a pretty greasy breakfast – hash browns, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs with fresh salsa. They would make an omelet for you with whatever you wanted in it. They also had a huge selection of fresh fruit. Only one morning I opted for the healthy yogurt with bran and fruit – otherwise I’d fill up on grease – the bacon was the best I’ve ever had! For lunch I would fill up on salad – the salad bar selection was huge – corn, peas, nuts, shredded carrots, peppers, cucumber, tomato, croutons, cheese, shredded cabbage, sprouts – you name it they had it. I really enjoyed topping it off with the low fat home made balsamic dressing. I would usually get a couple hot items too just to try out what they had. Every night we had dinner with the same couples and wait staff. They had a different menu each night and you could pick as many items as you wanted. There was always a different fresh soup & salad choice and the mains were the some of the best meals I’ve ever tasted. Most night we were too full for dessert but when we managed to fit it in it was sooo good!!! Some nights we would get it boxed up and take it back to our room for later. The drinks never stopped coming so usually by midnight we would be looking for a snack – even though we were never actually hungry. They had fresh taco’s with home made salsa – I couldn’t get enough of it or we would have popcorn while watching a movie on the big screen under the stars. Some nights we even pigged out and got fries and hot dogs at 2am. There was a 24 hour buffet that we frequented often.
The excursions were so fun – we did a couple beach days – Antigua & Bahamas, zip lining through the rain forest in St. Lucia and a train ride in St. Kitts. The other stops we just walked around and shopped. We stopped for lunch at Hooters in St. Thomas but the food wasn’t as good as what they offered on the ship. It was kinda cloudy in Barbados so we shopped a bit and spent the rest of the day in bed.
Overall it was the best thing I’ve ever done to date and I can’t wait to save enough money to do it again. Next time I think we are going to invite some other couples – not that we didn’t enjoy each others company and the alone time we got to share. We for sure practiced the baby making – over and over and burned some extra calories that way ? Not enough though to make up for all the drinks and food!
I felt so good the whole trip and my confidence was really high. We were one of the youngest couples on the cruise and I’m sure that helped sitting by the pool in my swimsuit! My sisters and mom were really proud of me and a little jealous I worked so hard before I arrived. I loved shopping in Arizona and got a lot of nice summer stuff. It will be good motivation to keep my weight down to fit into it again in a couple months.
It was nice to come home and see most of the snow melted. Today it’s around plus 5 Celsius and I can’t wait to get off work and go for a job outside. We have been eating pretty crappy since we got home because we haven’t had a chance to get groceries and it’s been hard trying to get into a routine again. The first day back we lied on the couch all day catching up on Y&R and had Wendy’s and Chinese food – followed by a bag of chips. I told hubby we need to crack down again and he’s totally on board. After reading a couple of your diaries this morning I know I’m ready too – as I was enjoying some chocolate. I know it’s going to be hard to cut back the portions again but I know I can do it.
I’m now off the pill as of Monday and I’ve cut out the pot too. Time to clean my body out before starting on the baby making in June. I would love to get back to 144 before that time. That will be my goal going forward – 144 by June 1st. I’m expecting my period any day and I know it’s going to be hard because I’m so used to not having a period. I think I’ve only had one like 8 times or something crazy since I met hubby 4 years ago. I’ve been really bad at continually taking my pill to not get my period and I hope it doesn’t affect me in trying to get pregnant.
I’m really excited for the next chapter in my life and I think I’m going to start a new diary tomorrow – just thinking of a catchy title – let me know if you have any ideas. We took 600 pictures but I put some of the highlights in an album under my profile as I figured that was easier than posting them all 5 at a time. Chat with you all soon!!!
