Hindu Squats

I was searching around the Internet for the proper form of a squat (which I eventually found) and I came across the Hindu Squats. I read this article

Heres the correct form also:

and thought maybe I would give this a try. As you can see by the diagram this exercise should be performed with much lower weight then a barbell squat.

What do you all think of this exercise?

Hindus are just one variety of body weight squats. They are good for building muscle endurance especially in the high rep range of 200 or more.

For a conditioning exercise try tabata squats. You probably should do these in the traditional flat foot technique as the move isn't as deep as a hindu.

Do as many squats with good form as fast as you can for 20 sec rest 10 sec repeat 8 times

check out the video and slides of some great exercises here

I'm a HUGE fan of hindu squats, and yes, you have to do a lot of them. I'm not sure what you meant by using a lower weight, as you don't use any weights with hindus. You can, of course, but one of the main benefits is the lung workout you get which is largely aided by the arm movements, and this would be more limited if you were holding a weight in your hand (I've tried it and didnt' like it).

Besides, hindus without weights will probably kick your ass the first bunch of times you do it, so give 'em a try without the weights, focus on proper breathing and you'll see the benefits of them.

Kinda of hard myself. The form is a little confusing. I don't have good balance on this I always fall over when my heels are levatated.
