HIIT Question?

I'm new to the idea of HIIT and I just had a quick question. Basically I'm wondering which of the following intervals would be better for running on a treadmill.

1 min @ 9mph
2 min @ 3.5mph (walking)

or something like

1 min @ 7mph
2 min @ 5mph (jogging)

I'm not a particularly fast runner (hence the somewhat slow mph) but I know I could complete 5+ cycles of these intervals.

It would be appreciated if someone could provide some feedback about these possible routines.

I would do both....If your willing to do 6 cycles, split it. The key is to monitor your heart rate and try to keep it within a target zone. After a while, if 3.5 is getting too easy after a while add some incline to it.

I'm sure other members will give you some better ideas, but the best thing to do is switch it up to keep you from getting bored of "routine".
