Hi

Yeah, great way to introduce yourself...

And yes, you are going to get comments but to start by attacking those who has been here is starting everything on the wrong foot.

Welcome to the forum.

I would suggest that you have a look at the stickies around this board, you will see that most of the information on your list has been discussed in depth several times already, and some of them have been de-myth-ified (like 'small frequent meals to have a constant stream of nutrient in the blood stream.' Myth.)

We have a habit of not throwing information out willy-nilly. If you put absolute statements out in the fashion you have, it would help if you could back it up with some credible proof, and some sort of information where all of your tips come from.

I find a lot of them at least questionable and think that following them could be detrimental for people rather than helping them in their efforts to lose weight. What works for some won't work for other, so generalizations and blanket statements like this simply don't work to well in most cases.

I can tell you that 'diets' are useless without exercise is false as well. It is good to exercise but it actually is not needed for weight loss. I'm proof of that. You can effect your calorie intake much more with diet changes than exercise. We are not saying remove exercise, but your statement is false.

Thank you very much for the welcome

The removed statement was a recognision of people in this forum to critise my philosophies and thats the beauti of debate :D. Tips was bit of a silly word to use on my account. I should of used philosophies and if could take it back I would.

When I meant exercise I do not make it very clear. Exercise can include activity like walking and not following a sedendary lifestyle (walking rather than taking the car, etc) and its effects on hormones.

Point 7) wasn't actually clear either and a little bit general. It was meant be about Amino acids and fats not having long term storage capabilities (being pushed into fat) and a maintence of the hormone insulin which it a major player in this area. I will hunter the forum for that thread and put it there eventually.

My tips (lets use philosophies, sorry for the word tips) come from a fellow called Dr Michael Colgan. He is a guy who has spent his life life working on areas of fat loss, hormonal health, anti-aging, sport preformance, Neurogenesis, nutrition and other forms of prevention of degenerative diseases. He is internationally recognised and recommended by top universities, fellow professionals and doctors. He takes no prisoners when it comes to issues on health he does. A lot of his information is free to view by anyone or with very minimum costs (like 50p or something) and with references to boot. I also like to read from pauling linus who was regard as one of the top 20 scientist that ever lived but the orthomulecular work was put down by conversative scientists in the field of medicine, big shame :(. Also I like the opinions of Dr Walter Willets Fredrick John Stare Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition in his book.

Titles and name are irrelevant really. Weight loss was a personal issue. 18 stone when I was 15 years old, 22 years old and now eleven stone.

Well, that Dr Michael Colgan has been referenced before on the site though it was a bit dated in his research.

here is what I suggest for you..as a new forum member, take some time for us to know you and for you to know us. It is easier to take recommendations from you if we know you. Right now, you are coming off like an 'expert' and not a person

I take that critism on board. However I have a poor conversational duck that you have just witnessed, can you please tell me how I can start of by building better relationships with the people on this forum. I kind of see this board being relative to a subject I dearly love and will have gun ho mentality about it, being a bull in a China shop lol. I saw the thread in which SAN was refering to. May I put a different version of events on that section about the Myths? Or would that be the "expert" like talk? Man I itching a bit... very sorry :(.

About Dr Colgan being dated (or well the research). One controversial book did mention something controversial about a health institute back in the 80's. Couple of months back, I was a witness to what he wrote about and it wasn't pleasant to watch. I was spitting fire myself (in my head). His last book was writen in 2007 was based on research done by the human genome project back in 2003. From the human genome project he has been basing his nutrition and athletical power program (cheesey I know) around that project. But may of his books are still valid today because I don't see many issues from his books being challenged by how he sees it. Like Myth two says about small meal = constant metabolism. He says its about keeping a constant storage of amino acids and essential fats as these are not stored like glucose is for later use and keeping the end hormone insulin stable. He also publishes articles on a month by month basis (well most months in a year).

Sorry I've done again, but you have to understand I'm only defending the man :).

No one is beating on the man. Take a breath, no one is attacking you..however, there has been scientific and medical studies since that has shown that several smaller meals a day is no better than 3 regular meals a day. It comes down to personal preference. The end goal is still Calories in < Calories out.

As for talking about yourself...how about who you are, where you live, why you are here? You just barely mentioned your weight loss (congradulations by the way).

Thank you for the congrat. But I would love to go back to the time when I was 19, weighting 16 stone but take the knowledge I have now and not do a lot of the things I did. Playing two and half hours of football on sunday being one of them. Promotion of a healthy attitute my backside... You may lose some form of weight but royally screwing around areas of my hormonal system which left me with incredible insomlia on the night and incredible aggression for the next two days in the morning isn't right. Sorry Mate I just have a lot of funny experinces.

The end goal is to get rid of excess adipose cells (stored fat) from the body and never get them back.

Then yeah I guess you could say it comes down to preference!

I prefere to address insulin efficiency, the hormonal cascade and mitochrondia (energy producer). Plus the old school notion of sedentary lifestyle, emotional fatening and processed garbage. But I also prefere slow gradual weight loss over years. But I see what you mean about saying these things. People ask me about losing weight (or battling the belly lol) and I will go on talking about these things... The normal response is a blank look and a dropped jaw or a notion of now now, quick fix! hehe.

Its been great talking. I'm sure to kick things off I always need a sort of nose dive and slap back into social reality, its bad I know but thats how have I've learnt. Sort of the issues around being obese when your in the teenage secondary school years. It bitter, cold and hard... well for me.
