Hi,
Im not new to weight loss, ive had issues with my weight all my life. But i am new to this forum.

I truely feel like i can kick it this time, something about me feels different mentally and physically.

I am 22 years old, I currently weigh around 187. (I havent weighed myself in a couple of weeks. It sometimes puts me in a bad mood so i only weigh myself when i can handle what the scale says.) Im going to weigh myself as little as i can and try and use my clothing as a scale.

Ive been pretty good with exercise my problem is doing it while eating healthy. Since i got my dog 15 months ago, i take walks, ride a bike, and rollerblade, recently i have been riding my bike with him around 7am.
I plan to excerise again at around 8pm. Last night i rode my rollerblades and my husband rode his bike with the dog.

Again i would like to say Hi to all, I wish you all good luck.

Katie

Welcome to the forum.

My best advice to you would be to give some time to reading around the nutrition section - despite not being new to weight loss. It can be easy to think "I have been here before - it is a matter of counting calories and sticking to it - I will just try harder this time".

We all can be tempted to skip the "small print". In this case - it may to tempting to head straight for the before/after pictures for example to chase that elusive "motivation factor" which plays such a vital part.

The fact is that many people try to stick to too low a number of calories and then fail - feel bad and declare it the end of the diet.

It can be much easier if you take it from the other direction and turn your diet into a healthy eating plan. Healthy food can often be lower in calories so you can find that you have cut back there to the right level whilst still feeling full - even if you have an enormous appetite.

Your body will also appreciate having recieved the best level of fuel and will perform better - which may in turn mean that you are eager to do more exercise - thus burning more calories.

Good luck with your project.

Thank you for the advice.
I admit I am guilty of cutting calories to low. Ive been trying to rethink my whole idea of eating.

I will be sure to read the nutrition part.

Thanks

I admit I am guilty of cutting calories to low. Ive been trying to rethink my whole idea of eating.

I often see the notion of weight in pounds multiplied by 12 as being a good "rule of thumb" starting point for determining a number of calories to shoot for. This tends to be a bigger number than many of us will have thought appropriate for losing weight.

Basically the concept is try that and see how you go...

Then use that (often large) calorie allowance to select and accurately measure really healthy food. Use to log your food so that you know where you are - not only regarding calories but other nutrients.

Once you get into the swing of things you get so that you do not have to weigh and measure so much. It is best to be quite accurate at first and ongoing with some high calorie foods.

If you feel that you need direction in a fun way (sometimes the small print can take a little ploughing through) then feel free to join my challenge - Summer Shake Up is running in the challenges section but you would be more than welcome to join in... Nutrition is a central part of this challenge.
