Hi my name is Dawn and i'm in need of some help

my mum has underwent gettign the gastric balloon on the 9th Dec and is having a very bad time with it and she is unable to keep anything down not even water or clear soup :puke: .

unfortunately the diet advise she got from the hospital was pretty much nothing and we are struggling to find proper advise on what to eat and what not to eat.

its really upsetting me to see my mum like this and i feel so helpless and i'm looking for help and advise on what to do

I'm a bit surprised that your doctor isn't giving you proper advice.

PS: moved your thread to the surgery section

thanks Jericho did wonder where it went lol

mum has got it on the NHS as if she doesn't do something she won't live to see my daughter grow up.

the information we got for eating was shocking and from what i have found online tonight its totally wrong she was never told to start having vitamin and mineral supplements and in her letter it says to start introducing solid foods with in 7 days and nothing about having a glass of water after a meal to clean the balloon.

she has had barely anything today and has not long thrown up and has taken up everything from today and what she has eaten yesterday which was soup (she has had none today).

just very scared for her health right now and she is completely regretting getting the surgery done plus on top of that they are saying there is a chance she won't get the next stage done as her lungs are too damaged.

if she has a bad vomiting fit she is actually wetting herself at the same time and she is feeling beyond humiliated as its me who is having to clean up and change beds plus she feels guilty as i'm sleeping on the sofa which doesn't bother me at all as i know i'm doing it to look after her however i think i am making myself ill atm with the constant worrying esp when i'm at work and she is at home alone getting very little support from my family except from my dad who has been a great help with looking after my wee one.............

just noticed i've kinda went off on a random rant sorry just struggling to find someone to talk to who can kinda relate to what i'm going thru

also mum lost 13lbs in the first week of getting the balloon in

How is your mother doing now??? her story sounds very similiar to mine, I had to have my balloon removed after a month of vomiting I became very ill and required hospitalization for severe dehydration and an obstruction. I hope your mom has turned the corner but if not I hope she is being followed very closely.
hope you are doing ok too, what a worry. take care.
