Hi all,

I tried many diets in the past but as usual ended up adding more weight.

Now my mother is a pediatric doctor. She had many patients these days with a great physical appearance by shedding down the weight to a great extent and when asked they all said it is Herbal Life. Now this is new to us.So she bought me through a local distributor, its all about shakes and protein powder.

April 2nd Today is my first day. They asked me to replace BF and Dinner with shakes and have a normal lunch.I thought I'll have the hunger cramps by evening or night. To my surprise I had none.

Usually I end up eating at night as I sit infront of PC or TV and eat while watching but then I didnot have that thought to eat junk.It never happened before when I was on the DIETS.

I am happy with the first day.I am not bothered about weight all I want to shed down my inches.

It is a bit expensive but then when we practically came across people in real life who used that then I thought why not me?

Let us see guys if it really works for me which I'll know in 1-3 weeks

When I started today my weight was 69.6 KGs

Hey Silkcut,

I used Herbalife as well and lost 30 pounds with it. I absolutely love it. At first it was hard to stay in the routine, but after a couple weeks it became old hat. It took me a little over 2 months to lose it and I have kept it off since.

The trick is to do all the other things that get talked about on this forum too - watching calorie counts, limiting the simple carb intake vs. the complex carbs, consistent exercise, etc. The nice thing about Herbalife is it sort of automatically helps you with calorie intake, and working with the complex carbs. Add consistent exercise and drinking lots of water and you have a pretty unbeatable combination.

I find it humorous that most of the people who call it a scam either have never actually tried the products and also because they don't understand the business side of it, or they've only dabbled in the programs and never followed any consistent routine with them. As with anything, consistency is key.

Enjoy the process and we look forward to hearing about your results!

Herbalife

I've been on herbalife to.
I would'nt say it's a scam, but the herbalife diet worked for me, like almost all diets - down the drain.
It's exciting in the beginning and i'm committed, but after a week it's getting kinda dull and I start to forget.

I've just started in a new program, and for the first time I'm in the third week and still hooked. I've already lost 4 pounds, even though the program promises long term and lasting weight loss.

Is it just me having so many problems in keeping a diet or a life change?

I find that if there's a fundamental change in your thinking - a true desire to be a "better you" so to speak - that's when the weight comes off and end up staying off. It's a lot more than just getting on some diet plan and hoping it works. There needs to be a mental commitment to bettering yourself. There are so many things we all can do without being on a "program" that can help us lose weight and become more healthy, but many people (myself included) need the structure of a program to start them on the path to a healthier lifestyle. The other thing for me was I needed to see fast results in order to boost my self esteem and also boost my excitement in going through the process of seeing the improved me emerge. It kept me motivated to continue the journey.

That's fantastic that you've found a program that you're really hooked on even after 3 weeks and congrats on the current weight loss!

I was on a similer diet called lighter life and lost 4.5 stone in 6 weeks but it is hard for first 2 weeks after that easy but boaring by the 6th week stated coming off for weekends then couldnt stomach the drinks .i shouldnt have been so extreme at end as at my weight it was shakes and soups only but i should have had one meal at end i could have prob still droped 1lb a week

While I'm not really a big supporter of this type of product, I recognize that some people need more 'hand-holding' when it comes to starting a weight loss program. Also, some people are motivated by immediate success, so if this makes them stick with their plan, then so be it. In my opinion, as long as you listen to the instructions on proper diet and exercise (as creid said) and gradually incorporate these healthy changes into your lifestyle while gradually weaning yourself off of the shakes, etc., then I don't see too much wrong with it (other than the cost).

What I see too often is that people become reliant on the products (which is exactly what the company is banking on) and they don't listen to the information on how to make healthy food choices and how to incorporate activity into their routine. All they think is "if I take these shakes, then I will lose weight without having to put in any effort." If that is the mindset, then they will fail, no matter what they try in terms of weight loss.

So silkcut, if you have success on the herbalife program, then that's great! Just remember that you have to also make those healthy changes to your overall diet as well as incorporating regular exercise in order to keep the weight off long term.

Good luck!

hi creid,

thanks for your support.

i am happy to say that i dropped 2.2 kg in 6 days(today is the 6th day).
i didnot starve myself infact i had one lunch and 2 shakes in between if i am hungry i am sticking to few pieces of water melon and orange mostly after the night shake.

to my surprise i did not have any cravings for the sweets.i like sweets a lot and cannot resist my craving for sweets but recently even though i had sweets at home( as my father and brother are eating them ) i just stare at them and leave but didnot touch them which is a huge shock for them.this happened many times and i just cannot stay without Thumsup(cool drink) but i stopped drinking Thumsup.usually i love thumsup more than sweets ,its like a drug to me.

this improvement made me happy and i feel more confident now.i aimed for 2 kgs per week.

i eat white rice with curries at lunch but from today 6th day onwards i replaced white rice with unpolished brown rice.i have special instructions to my cook to reduce oil and salt in curries.

:sifone:waiting to see me at 50 kg:drool5::nopity:

that is shocking,i just converted stone to kilogram.so you lost 24-25 kg in 6 weeks.thats awesome.congrats but is it a healthy way?

hi plb,

thankyou and its actually working and i am happy with this but a long way to go.17 kgs yet to go.:cuss::banghead:

Herbalife does work as a start; however, don't rely on it for long term. If you see results as a start, you should try to adjust your own diet and start doing exercise for long term success!

Looking forward to hear your success story! Keep up the work! =)

No it doesn't. Diet and exercise work, please try not to spout nonsense on this forum, we try to be accurate and not sell silly diet pills that do not work :)

Wow you're close-minded. Um, first of all, it DOES work, I've used it, many people have and continue to. 30+ years in the business should say something about that. People like you, shutting down different alternatives for people without having first hand knowledge of the method in question, is firstly, very arrogant, and secondly not at all helpful for those who are truly searching for an answer.

I will say, like I have with everyone who uses these products (including myself), that there still needs to be nutritional education and use of the other methods that are discussed on this forum. Everything we talk about on here - consistent exercise routines, drinking lots of water every day, counting calories, etc are things that EVERYONE should be doing - even if you are using products from Herbalife or whoever else. No matter what, SOMEONE is making a profit off of you eating, so if you have a problem with Weight Watchers making money, don't buy their program, if you don't like the "Ralph's" grocery store around the corner, don't buy your veggies and fruits there. The point is, we all have a choice, and if someone finds something that works for them to get the job done, then that's terrific, way to go! Try being supportive instead of bashing something you don't know anything about - you'll look smarter and have more friends. :)

Maybe we should say in this way... this product might work for some people and it might not work in others... as we are all different and the effect on whatever product will also be different as well!

It is true that it is not a good way to rely on "products" for weight loss, as healthy diet and consistent exercise are the best way. However, there are many people (including myself) might have some difficulties as a start, and that's why we want to find some product to can help us with it.

There is no right or wrong, we are here to share our experiences and supports to help each other to achieve our desire weight with success!

Cheer up... =)

I am not closed minded, i work on evidence. Most diet pills or remedies are stone soup, hence why they say they work 'with a healthy diet and exercise'.
Having a shake to loose weight is not a good way to live your life, and to loose weight successfully you need to make a lifestyle change, not just take a shake.

Anyway, as far as this thread goes, i'm going to close it (due to the amount of spam).

any diet plan can work because following these "magic diets" is all about cutting calories and feeding you "food" and pills to help you control food cravings. Eat a healthy diet with proper meal sizes and you won't need any of that.
