Hi

Just joined up after looking at the forums for quite a while. I currently am 245pounds and have been steady at this weight for quite along time and at a little over 6'1" I do carry it quite well (so people tell me anyway) I obviously don't think so and that's why I am here.

I eat a fair bit of crappy foods and I am looking not to go on a diet but just to cut the majority of the fatty foods and snacks out and have a more balanced diet with more fruit and veg.

The main way I want to lose the weight is through exercise in the morning. I am starting a routine of trying to get out of bed about an hour earlier to do 30 mins on the exercise bike or running machine 5 days a week and then 20-30 mins on the weight bench to tone up my moobs and define my upper arms one day and work on my Gut the next. (the main problem with this is I am going to have to find somewhere else to hang my clothes to dry if I start using the exercise equipment I have had for over a year:leaving:).

One of the biggest problems I have though is motivation to actually do it. I can picture how I want my life in general to be and it is all based around me getting up in the morning and getting my body and mind firing on all cylinders. I just need a bit of help :cuss: to stop all of the :icon_bs: excuses I have.

Anyways....that's me

Going "on a diet" is never effective for the long term - you want to have your favorites in moderation and come up with a plan that you can live with for the rest of your life...

Spend some time reading the stickied threads in the exercise forum - you'll get some ideas on how to improve your workouts...

take it one change at a time and you wil get to where you want to be...

According to that little chart thing my BMI at my target weight that I set would still be 'classes as over weight' That to me is crazy as any lower than that and I would look stupid. I have pictures of when I was 16 and I weighed around 15 stone and looked a good healthy weight almost thin in the face. This BMI thingy does not take into account natural build. I am going to stick to the target I set and see how I look when I hit it. You can see how people can become dangerously obsessed with recommended numbers and figures.

stop all of the excuses I have.

This has been key for my success to date. In fact, the name of my online diary is No More Excuses.

Being accountable, and honest is paramount for success.

Your exercise plan looks great! Just remember the key to weight loss is to burn more than you consume- (just remember your BMR).

GOod Luck!

Well I am calling this morning a success, actually managed to get out of bed and do 30 mins on the bike and I feel quite good for it too. Just got to make sure I do it tomorrow.

BMI isn't the best guide to go by - it doesn't take into consideration muscle mass, bone structure, etc...

Getting out of obesity is a good thing but don't worry so much about the overweightness..

Hello,
I know what you’re saying about getting up in the AM. Changing you routine can be hard.
But it will get easier and easier. You are on the right track.
Good job! Keep it up!
You will do this (because you want it)!
Have a great Day:seeya:
