Hi I'm Roo :)

HI!

I thought i'd join this site, I have been on the weight loss forum for a while now.

I am still trying to lose weight (around 4-5kg till goal) but I have recently started running. I have always been pretty fit, played a lot of sport, but I have always wanted to compete in races. I have started out running/walking 4km and last night I ran the whole way! I would like to work up to running 10km each run, but I understand that will take a while.

I also hope that the running will help with my fat loss too!

So hi!

Welcome to the forum. You from aussie?

Welcome Roo!

Welcome to the best forum on the internet!

Yes, running can assist with tissue loss, but this activity must co-exist ith a good properly constructed diet for tissue loss.

Do you have any strength training goals mixed in with your running activities?

Again, welcome to the forum!

Wish you much luck with all of your goals.

Hi Roo

Welcome. I'm pretty new to the site and very new to running too -huge congrats on your non-stop 4K!

I've been running for just under 2 months now, running about 4 times a week and mixing it with spinning, weight training and lots of stretching. My routine consists of a mix of 3 short runs focussing on hills, speed, easy run and one long run per week - which is varied enough to keep me interested, is strengthening my legs quickly and seems to be working well (I ran 6 miles today for the first time, woohoo!).

So, you'll definitely get there, probably sooner than you think. Hope the above is useful and don't forget the magic ingredient - music with a great bass :)

and welcome to the forum!
FF

what is your sex, age, weight, adn running pace?

Hey FF

Thank you, Sir! Am female, 32, 114lbs.

My running pace varies - on short runs I'm just under 10 but on long runs I'm at 11. I'm working on increasing my pace more during the short runs right now and I figure that this will ultimately help with longer runs (I started at 13+ so it's clearly shifting) BUT as I'm pretty vertically challenged at 5'2", I can't really see myself sustaining a huge difference in pace when I do the marathon in Oct ie doesn't having shorter legs mean I have to run twice as fast as tall people to get anywhere? = I LOVE this argument - or maybe I'm just being a wuss....

Anyway, I will battle on and see how fast my little legs will carry me!

Btw, you sound like a runner - what's your pace (or will that just scare me?!)
