Speaking of Drs, are you a doc, Doc? Not to lump you in with that crowd of sycophants.
No.
My user name is a play on words. It's designed to evoke memories of the traveling medicine show of days gone by when traveling salesmen entertained the crowds before offering some magic elixir or snake oil guaranteed to cure diseases, smooth facial wrinkles, remove stains in clothing, prolong life, or cure any number of common ailments.
bunkum - "ludicrously false statements"
I like to drop into the various weight loss forums and mlm type forums and piss off people trying to sell some dumb weight loss pills or offering some nonsensical advice about diet.
I've been having an ongoing squabble with a group peddling a certain detox juice. You know, the company that claims the reason you're fat is because of toxins. Flush out the toxins and the fat will go along with it. Those geniuses.
Or as one Dr. McReynolds puts it, (I just did a quick search), "Toxins are stored in fat, so as you cleanse, impurities are eliminated as excess fat is dissolved. If you are normal or underweight it is still important to cleanse. The less fat you have the more likely toxins are going right to your organs."
Wow! That really is insightful. I'm sure a few basic laws of physics were just violated in that one sentence.
I've also asked them to explain this claim too: "They have a 9-Day and a 30-Day program which are both designed to help you lose excess weight and build lean muscle mass while cleansing."
I worked out the calorie intake for the program and I recall it averages somewhere around 650 calories a day. Right. And like I'm going to build lean muscle mass? Exercise isn't even part of the regime. How could you anyhow on so few calories?
By and large, I find they don't like people questioning them. Their stock answer is "try it and see for yourself".
Now that I've got started...
They had a beaut a while back. The bodybuilder types can relate to this one. I should have erased the name from the add, but anyways, here it is.
This ad was all over the net awhile back by that crowd. People that should know better or at least think a moment.
Like they expect us to believe this guy dropped from 5600 calories to 1500 calories and gained 3.56 lbs of lean body weight in two days? (Well, it's true that if your bf% drops, your lbm has to go up, but that's not what he's saying ).

Hey, guru..... Explain just how you managed to do that!
Actually, I Googled that Paul Neill guy and found he was competing in bb contests long before this company was around. Duh! With a little more digging, I'm sure I could have dug up a few photos too. Would have been interesting to see what he looked like.
Anyways, that's my rant for this evening.
