Hey, My name is Lisa and I live in Scotland. Last year i weighed around 9 st but now im 12st.I have put alot of weight on in the past few months. I got the contraception implanon in Sep 10 and since then i have put on alot of weight and now beginning to get stretch marks. I am hoping to get married next year and loose weight but im struggling with motivating myself as I have never lost weight and failed in the past. I was wondering if anyone had any good exercises to do at home or ones that dont cost alot of money to do like going to the gym etc. any help would be appreciated

There are tons of exercises you can do at home! I'm a runner and while I'm usually a treadmill girl, running is cheap and easy to do around the neighborhood. Just get a GOOD pair of shoes. Get fitted at a running store that will watch your stride and fit you for how you strike. The only other thing I would say is "required" is reflective gear if you're going to be running at night.

Jumping rope, jumping jacks, and burpees are all great exercises to get your heart rate up without having to go outside.

You can do push ups, crunches, squats, lunges, and other exercises in your living room. If you want to really get into it google "Convict Conditioning". There are a bunch of exercises in there that require little or no equipment.

For losing weight though, diet is more important than exercise. So make sure to find to how many calories you need to maintain your weight, then eat less than that. Make sure to keep an accurate log of what you're eating. It will be really really really helpful.

Welcome to the forum!

Hey Lisa,

bluebuckeye made some really good points and had some great suggestions for exercises that require little or no equipment.

For some more simple exercise ideas, you can also go here:

Free Exercises, Exercise Instructions, Custom Workout, Personalized Workout, Ab Exercises, Abdominal Exercises, Training Programs

There is a large list of exercises that don't use much for equipment and they are posting new exercises every couple of days.

If you have any questions about diet or exercise, ask away!

thanks for the help, I have started going out walking , tried to do a bit of jogging but my shins were very sore afterwords, not sure if its just because im not used to doing it yet so hopefully do fast paced walking and gradually jog. To be honest am not a big eater, a dont eat alot and when I do eat I have fresh vegetables and meat, fish ,chicken etc. Im just not sure where im going wrong , im a bit confused to be honest ..

Hey lisa,

If you're really interested in starting to run, try googling 'couch to 5K' or 'run/walk' programs. They are helpful for very gradually getting you into running.

As for diet, I would recommend starting a diary, or at least reading through some of the diaries in the weight loss diary section. This may help you get started, but if you have specific questions, be sure to ask!

Cheers,

P.
