My name is Ryan, and I used to weigh 312 pounds. Forthe past 3 months I've been dieting and exercising. I have to lose 110 pounds to meet my goal and to join the Air Force. I'll be lurking around here looking for tips and motivation, thanks in advance :)

Edit, I have been working on my weight for 3 months, and almost half way there, still have a bunch to go though, hope I didn't confuse to many people.

Actually thats about 4.25 lbs per week, 3 months (4 weeks a month) 12 weeks total. so far I'm on a steady low carb diet, just watching what I eat nothing extreme at all, and I hit the gym about 4 times a week, doing the elyptical (spelling?) for an hour each session after work. Also I'm currently an electrical apprentice untill I lose my weight, so I'm pretty active all day. Forgot to mention im 20 years old.

Ohhh, sorry, I read it as you already lost 110 lbs.

So you have 12 weeks to lose 110 lbs.

I suggest you check your math again.

110/12 = 9.16

12 weeks at 4.25 lbs/wk only puts you at 51 lbs.

Or am I retarded today?

You won't lose 110 lbs in 12 weeks time without taking extreme measures. Even then I don't think it's possible.

Hey man, good luck. 112 lbs in 12 weeks is pretty extreme, but we're here to help ya out. Please, though, don't over do it and hurt yourself. Be safe in this adventure.

Ahah come on guys, you need to read the post again, or maybe I didn't word it correctly, I said I have been going for 3 months (12 weeks) I have to lose 110 pounds, but I'm only 3 months in. Big misunderstanding. currenty I'm 51 pounds down, but have 59 to go. Hope you get me.

Come on guys?

lol

It may have worked better if you mentioned that you've lost weight already.

When you say, and I quote, "I have to lose 110 pounds to meet my goal and to join the Air Force"

How is one supposed to take that?

Maybe if you said when I started, I had to lose 110 lbs. I'm down X amount so far so I have Y amount to lose to join the AF.

Not to be difficult but we can only work with what we see on the screen.

4.25 lbs is still a bit much per week but most likely doable. Best to you.

How did you do that???

Hi Ryan,
I have lost 17 pounds, it must be a great feeling knowing you are half way through, best of luck.

Like I said in post above, I may have misworded, either way you understand now. I also thought maybe you had seen my ticker in my signature, guess you didn't though.

Woot.. nice work... To lose 51 lbs in 12 weeks.. I hope I can lose 42 lbs in 6 months..... I am still right on track.. But the smaller you get, the harder it gets......

Good luck with your journey... There are tons of tips here flying around the forum... Have a nice pleasure to read them...

Every once in a while we get a prospective serviceman come in here looking to lose a ton of weight quickly for acceptance into the service.

I wish they'd focus more on body fat than total weight.

Unfortunatly for me, the Air Force doesn't look at muscle mass vs body fat, they look at numbers on a chart, and If you don't meet those reqs, your history. Like I said earlier I'm not doing anything extreme, just cutting out most sugars and eat healthier. I go to the gym 4 days a week doing cardio mainly and work with some weights. I don't see how that is unethical, if thats what you're getting at. I also never mentioned a time frame, only showed how long it has taken me to lose the amount that I already have, and hope to keept going at the same pace. (which most likely It will slow down.)

Bridgers,

do you mind giving us a detailed synopsis of your workout/ nutrition? I wouldn't mind taking a look into it and seeing if I can't incorporate some of what you do in my weekly regime.

Yup, I know this.

That's why I said I wish things would be different.

I was making no implications about you whatsoever.

Namely about the standards set by the service, is all.

This is interesting to me.

Steve I couldn't agree more. A lot of people that are at the same weight as me have a different build type then myself. Getting down to 202 lbs I thought was extreme when I first started but as the weight dwindles down I'm coming to the reality that I'll have a much flatter stomach then I thought I could ever have. I'm almost worried if I build to much muscle I wont meet the weight req. but I'm sure I can.

Gator, as far as my diet goes, it's different but It's been working so why stop now right. For weekdays:

Morning: Bowl of cereal, quaker scquares, life, just adverage cereal with some extra fiber.

Mid-day, and lunch: At work I have a morning break at 9:30 and thats when I eat my main lunch, banana and some chicken with green beans. I couldn't tell you my exact portions, I get enough to almost fill me up. At around noon I have 1-2 oranges.

After work (2:30) I head strait to the gym, and do the elyptical machine for an hour. I keep a steady pace (100 SPM if that means anything to you) and midrange difficulty. (its 1-20 and I stay around 10-14) I'm guessing all machines are different. For dinner, chicken again. Can't get enough protein. I have found myself eating subway everyother day. I've been getting footlongs on days I work out, and 6 inches on days I don't. I get Roated Chicken Breast on wheat, no cheese, lettuce, tomato, and italian dressing. Just my personal choice.

I hope that I didn't go to indepth, If you want more info I can get some, there are more habbits I have but unfortunatly I have to get back to work. I'll be on around noon EST to check this thread. Ask any questions I'd be more than glad to share anything with you guys, I'm sure you would all do the same.
