Hernia area hurting when bench'ing

I had a hernia surgery when i was younger that i think was caused by benching cause i wasnt doing it right and now when i benchpress about 15 minutes later that area hurts. I think im doing it right, Feet on the floor with legs bent and breath in when lifting and breathing out when lowering. Do you think i should keep doing it or do something else with weights for them areas? Cause i really dont want another hernia thats like the worst pain ive had in my life after the surgury. Any other thing with weights like tricep press's barbell curls none of that bothers it.
 
Nick: Certainly consult a physician. Also; have a trainer verify your form, try lowering the weight, doing fewer sets as well. See if that helps.

If the discomfort remains; try pushups, machine bench, dumb bell bench.
