Here we go!!!

Just thought I would try this out, I have been trying to lose weight since the end of Aug/06. Been going to the gym btwn 3 to 5 days a week, two hours at a time. I finding that I am enjoying it alot more that I have ever before. The only thing that I am finding frustrating is that I have not lost any weight on the scale. I know that I have built up muscle tone, but to not see the scale moving in the direction that I want (which of course is down), I seem to sometimes feel like I am never going to get to my goal weight.

SW - 220 lbs
GW - 165 lbs
CW - 220 lbs

I have been trying to follow the Easy Zone program but I am finding that sometimes eating as much as they want you to, to be too much, and I find being a mom on the run sometimes hard to eat at the right times. I know if I want this to work, I have to try to fit it in, but I find it difficult at times. I am trying my hardest to watch what I eat, I only buy good healthy foods, but I do not think that I am eating well enough for my body to lose those excess pounds.

Well I think that I have let you know where I stand.

Hopefully losing soon,

Sapphire:confused:

How long have you been trying? Are you doing cardio or weights or both? When my scale refuses to go down I pick up the weights and usually when in a few days I see the scale start moving down again.

If that doesnt work.. sometimes I go off my diet for 2 days and eat what I want. Treat yourself to mcdonalds or where ever you like to eat out, but dont go overboard with it. Its hard, I know.. I been at this since July but dont give up... those scales will move down I promise. I remember when I was stuck at 228 for 2 weeks and I felt so discouraged and sad and just very upset. I kept going though and Im now at 195 and dropping.

Hello, and welcome!

The diets aren't, in my opinion, a really precise science. If you feel that there is too much food, don't eat it! Have you calculated your calorie needs for the day vs your food intake? If you are eating less calories than you expend, then you HAVE to lose weight - it's not optional, it's thermodynamic law!

Also (and I always go on about this) if you're eating anything sugary, I recommend you quit. I managed to drop hundreds of calories a day from my intake by just quitting on sugary things. It wasn't easy at first, but in the end I stopped craving sugar!

Best of luck with achieving your goal!

Thanks for the reply, I have been doing about 1hr of Cardio and 1 hr of weights 3 to 5 times a week, before I started my muscle tone was not there at all. I was at my goal about 8 yrs ago before the birth of my two girls. Since then unfortunately I have not kept up the healthy life style I had before. I tend not to eat anything that is loaded with sugar, salt or trans fats. I have a family history of high blood pressure and cholestrol problems, so I am trying to keep myself and my family from some of the worst health problems. I tend to drink 4-500ml bottles of water a day, I have the worst problem of not eating enough to keep the fuel going. I think that the carbs are my worst enemy since I do like whole wheat breads, crackers, etc. I tend not to bring in cookies, chips, all the unhealthy stuff, do to if its is here I will eat it. I am a very emotional eater, I tend to go for the bad stuff when I am feeling down. I have also been battling a form of depression which is being handled by medication but some days it is still hard. I am hoping that soon, things will move and I will start to have alot more happy days that I do not crave the bad stuff.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure of my calorie intake and I tend to work off at the gym about 500 cal plus what I expend with weight lifting and of course keeping up with my kids. Sugar is not my problem most of the time, just when I am feeling down. Maybe I just need to look at my eating again. Start up a food journal or something.

Thanks again.

The food journal is a wonderful idea, it puts an extra step between the desire to eat and actually eating. `Do I really want to write down that I just ate all those donuts?'. It worked well for me when I was starting off, until I got into the habit of not eating certain things.
